Ive just been watching replays of the last two wins by the saints

The one thing that stands out is the lack of time that the saints give to the oposition before they are pressuring them. This is quite obvious on the small expanses of telstra dome. This is a result of these players managing and training their bodys specifically for their gameplan. they have skill across the board so they manage player rotations with ease, maximising the endurace pressure they apply to the opposition players. They have built a list of great proportions and manage it as a truly professional unit. They dont just want to win things they want to take afl football to a new level of professionalism.

On the small SCG ground Sydney will have no time or space they will be pressured as soon as they have the football. So if they dont mark it or get a free they better get it on quick or they will be crunched. And it goes on and on for the whole bloody game until everyone is rooted.

Are Sydney on their game more than all of the others who have tryed. I think not.

Your very own argument doesn't sustain itself, as the smaller SCG demands lesser endurance than say a Subiaco.

The side who wins will develop penetrating runs and delivery from the half-back flanks, whilst the defensive midfielders shut down their offensive opponents. The forwards who get the best delivery and make the most of their chances will dominate their (admittedly weak and vulnerable) defensive backs.

St Kilda are clear favourites but if the Swans can continue the improvement in the defensive and midfield runners, and the forwards can kick straight, an upset is a possibility.

sydney likes to chip the ball around and avoid contests, and if were fully fit, would give the saints a run for their money... but with only 28 fit players on the list, and the possibility of no hall, they might frustrate the saints, but probably dont have the talent on the park to win.

I dont think this is what they "like", but rather a fast run and handball type of game. When they are on song (as in the last quarter against Essendon, the second quarter against the Roos and the third quarter against the Dogs) they transition lightening fast and hit leading forwards 35m from goal.

i thought it was a tactic they employed when playing sides in dominant form - the game v brisbane earlier this year an example. Have the saints faced something like that before?

Was a tactic they employed to defeat Brisbane's superflood, actually. Tough gig to bomb it long to our forwards when 16 Lions are in the arc! And that was Rd 1.
I'm sure Saints wouldn't care - their backline's pretty strong and skilled and that sort of stuff would turn the ball over quickly - to our detriment.

If Hall doesnt, Sydney wont win.
BBBBHall is a key. We have to have a power forward. Almost out of our reach if he doesn't play - probably is with him in anyway - although at least we've a show. And let's face it - he WON'T play. I cannot imagine that he'll get off. No Barry, Saddo, Schneids and with Davis doubtful, will leave our forward line extremely light on. Dunno where the goals'll come from as they could double up on Magic and Rhino. Maybe they'll play Son of Max up forward as he kicked four in the Mary-Lous.

Either way, its a good chance for Lenny Hayes to become familiar with his future club and home ground.
Naughty graybags!! Not like you to crank up the opposition fans with a statement like that!

TasSaint,

Rightly or wrongly, just keep it to yourself.

Immature threads like this make it seem like we're confident and arrogant.

Even though you are technically correct, it's silly - and inflammatory.

Keep a lid on it :)

Didn't you find the lid last week SK after the WCE game? Be more than happy if we gave it back to the Saints this week....

Its has been flying out of space, and I believe it is due to land at the SCG on Sunday, so it can be returned and snapped shut for good.;)
