Opinion Why the Adams Bashing?

Sam Mitchell had just won the Liston medal when he "came into the game"...hardly a scrubber.

I somehow made myself sit through the game last night, and watched Adams closely.

He had 3 absolutely unforgiveable turnovers in the first half. But every one of his other 21 disposals was ok. Admittingly a few of them were blind kicks out of a pack, and one handball was smothered but we went forward anyway.

I think its a bit of an overreaction. He was actually one who tried pretty hard. Even had the responsibility for Chapman in the last quarter. Blind Freddy knows that Adams is not a really suitable match up for Chapman.

If we are talking unforgiveable errors, then the name Paul Seedsman should get a mention for that 2 metre kick straight into the man on the mark. I think the majority of us have ignored that kick because we had already left by that stage.

I would still drop Adams at this stage. If he can't get into the midfield, then I don't trust him across half back. He is going to be prone to the odd mis-kick, so putting him as a running half back is dangerous.

His spot needs to be midfield or I'd even try him as a small forward where he can utilise his ball winning abilities and strong tackling. He had a habit of kicking goals at GWS...including some really freakish goals.

Thanks For watching the Game.

Does sound like when he does makes mistakes they can be Complete and Utter Shockers which does make his games look worse then they are.

Agree with that if he can’t get into the Midfield and would stay down back he might as well go back to VFL Level where it’s slower and his Confidence could grow a bit.

I was also thinking that he could play Blair’s Postion, He is hard at it and Loves to Tackle. Could gets some Hardball get’s in the F50 and get them to the Forwards. Could also get some Crumbs and Kick some goals too

This thread might last a little longer. Now that Maxy is retiring Buckly can play Adams as the third tall. Similar foot skills height might be a bit of an issue.

Not sold on him at all so far, disappointed actually. We could have traded Shaw to GWS for pick 14 and drafted any of Dunstan, Jones, Crouch, Acres who play the same role as Adams or McCarthy for future planning. Dunstan already looks like he has more upside and he could be at Collingwood right now with Grundy, Kennedy, Scharenberg and Broomhead.

Well at the Moment you might be right but Bucks and Hine are big fan of Adams. I dare say they thought about doing that but Hine and Co Rated Adams higher then that.

Still to early to be 100% Sure.

We traded players in like Medhurst and Leroy Brown in there 1st Season you where not sure about them and they they came real good in there 2nd season

Yes his Kicking is just Floaters and he does turn the ball over.

But he at least has a Crack and tries to get the Ball and getting us the Ball Forward.

Here are the Lists who should be dropped before him for just as bad Kicking and Lack of Effort:

  • Lumumba
  • Toovey
  • Blair
  • Goldsack
  • White
  • Swan
And Thomas, young, Cloke, ball
