Im not very familiar with Trengove's attributes that makes him so highly rated. We all know Trengove is now a lock to be taken at 2, but just curious, what makes him better then Martin? And does Trengove fit into our game-plan better then Martin?
 
Trengove is probably the clear standout in the draft.

A proven, tough and talented player who leads by example.

Plenty of upside about this kid, he has been doing it against
men in the best league down from the AFL -and slotting in
nicely, he takes no short cuts and cuts no corners.

He is a well balanced player with a good tank, sufficient speed
and excellent foot skils, what isnt there to like?

Natural footballer.

Has athletic and leadership qualities, is a ball magnet, excellent disposal skills by hand and foot, excellent decision maker, strong overhead for his size, can kick a goal, applies defensive pressure and has a very high workrate.

I dont mean to pump him up before he makes it but on junior form, he looks very likely to become a true allrounder of high quality.
 
All this talk about Scully and Trengove makes me wish next year would start right now. Hopefully one (or both) of them ends up as an absolute superstar. Hopefully by the end of their careers it will replace all those Voss/Buckley/Hird threads with Scully/Trengove/??

I'd prefer the 2 of them get compared next to Judd/Cousins/Kerr or Voss/Lappin/Black or Ablett/Bartel/Chapman.

Scully/Trengove/Grimes has a good ring to it.
 
lol. and half the board was hoping for a 5-6 wins and to sing the song on a sunday night this year .:confused::rolleyes::o

I'd take him over Martin, but I think with Trengove and Martin you'd have a big bodied strong midfield with elite kicking skills and ready to play round one. I've got a feeling Scully being of lighter build may be a bit injury prone due to his intense training and attack on the ball. But either way you guys are going to have a freakin' powerful midfield in 2-3 years.

Would the fact that Port offered picks 8 and 9 for Melbournes pick 2 mean anything about how good Trengove is ?

I dont know anyone that doesnt rate Trengove as a number 1 or 2 in this draft

Martin looks good but ahead of Trengove , Scully or arguably Morabito he isnt

Looks the complete footballer to me

I know this sounds petty, but got pissed off at Ten News tonight. Christie Malthouse kept calling him "Trengrove". Really shitted me.

Not sure I have seen martin play and he seriously looks the goods! he also sounds like he is going to be a great player and dedicated!!! Maybe I'm just being greedy Scully and Trengrove cant get much better than that :D

Given the amount of coverage Trengove has received since the National Champs, your asking of this question is akin to Zoolander asking, "Why male models?" the 2nd time.

Some recruiters get influenced at Draft Camp by how high they can jump or what they can get on the beep test when it doesn't heavily effect how good they are as a player.

Trengove is a gun footballer and that's the answer to the OP question.
