Why wait 21 weeks???

Under the current circumstances Richmond will not be a serious contender for the forseeable future.

We would all agree that the name of the game is building a side to win flags not a group that is merely competitive and can beat the lower ranked teams.

It is a waste of time to potter around for 21 weeks and win between 7-11 games before the inevitable occurs and the cleanout begins.

If the Richmond board is serious about building a respectable football club the following should happen TODAY.....

1) Wallace and Royal should be sacked
2) King & Rawlings be placed on notice
3) Campbell appointed caretaker coach
4) Bowden & Johnson retire
5) Immediate review of the clubs fitness & conditioning staff and handing of Cotchin in the pre-season and Cousins last night
6) Immedairte review of club's recruiting processes
7) Immediate review of list management to determine why Bowden and Johnson were retained, why King, JON & Pettifer weren't delisted and how in the name of Francis Bourke did we trade a priority draft pick for Jordan McMahon
8) Commence process to appoint modern thinking coaches, possibly Buckley, but we would have Buckley's chance.

The jungle drums were beating after the loss to Carlton in the centenary game last season however our finish to the year prevented the hard decisions from being made.

It has been yet another wasted off-season, let's not waste the season as well.

This is why we've never made finals. Because we always tweak, we never make big changes.

i agree, cleanout should begin now. Starts with Wallace IMO.

If its any consolation, i cannot see Wallace as our coach come round 4. We will surely get smashed against the cats and then again against the dogs. 3 drubbings and Wallace is gone i reckon. Sheeds will take over as caretaker and we'll make finals. Then he'll do a proper list cleanout come end of season and we will truly begin to make steps forward.

This stat appeared on "On the Couch" last year during the period of simmering tensions between Wallace & March. It highlighted Wallace's inability to develop a gameplan to knock off top 8 teams.

You have to work with what you're given.

Why pick the game plan that requires precision skills when we obviously don't have them.

Also, in Wallace's case. He decided what he was given come November for the last 4 Years...
In that time, the skill level hasn't increased that much. At the end of season, proper due dilligence of the list would suggest skillful players a priority. Therefore, he and the other coaches haven't met their coaching requirements and should be sacked....

Brinng in a young, enthusiastic coach...
Hardwick and Buckley both enjoy the physical nature of the game!!!
Maybe have Sheedy mentor one of them through to the end of the season, like an apprenticeship and then they get the gig on their own come 2010!!!
