Figure some of the doom and gloom could do with being offset by some positivity, feel free to post in this thread any random reasons you think we CAN win on Saturday.

Tex >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Riewoldt as a forward

We have that missing bit of mongrel that I reckon all good premiership teams need. Both Crouches, Tex, Sloane, Cameron, Brown, Talia, Hartigan, Greenwood, Jacobs, Lever, Kelly all have a bit of aggro in them and are capable of rattling the Richmond players which GWS would not have exposed them to.

Forward line as a whole is capable of kicking a huge score, can't see how Richmond can keep pace when momentum is with us

We have too many weapons up forward.
Our midfield is full of hard nuts and doesnt rely on 1 player.
We have 2 shut down defenders in brown and talia who rarely get beaten.
Sam Jacobs is the number 1 ruckman in the game.
Our team is hungry.
Richmond is happy they have made the gf. We are too but we went into this years finals aiming for 1 thing.
The premiership.

Tigers led by as much as 14 pts in our R6 match earlier this year. They even kicked 6 goals 3 to us kicking only 5 goals.

If we could go on to then systematically dismantle and smash them by 76, I have faith that we can do that again.

Mind you I am terrified to give up such a massive lead like that again. Im not exactly sure if we could afford to be down by anymore than 3 goals on Saturday.

I think we not only win, but win well.

Their main strengths as a team are their pressure and their small forwards (plus their #4). Despite all the talk about Richmond's weapons, we're a better pressure team imo and we have the best small forwards in the competition. So even their strengths come up short. Also i think we're the number one team at dealing with pressure. Some of the games this year where pressure has been ferocious, we have just dished handball after handball until we're in space and away we go. I'm confident.

We only need one area of the ground to fire to win.

If our midfield gets on top, we'll be fine. Richmond's defence won't be able to contain us if we're winning clearances and going forward.

If our midfield is down, but our defence gets on top, we'll be fine. We're the best rebounding team in the comp.

If our midfield and defence are both down, but our forward line fires, we'll only need 30 entries to kick a winning score.

Kick straight and maintain our average of I50s all season and we win comfortably. Arguably their slight advantage lies in the midfield. If Dusty is used in the middle. I suspect there is a reason as to why he isnt being played in there.

The only issue I have is if the Tigers get the first few goals. We will look bloody shaky. The G will erupt and thats where their momentum can be an issue. This is the biggest concern that terrifies me. In fact the Tigers have a far superior first quarter than us, if we are at par with them or ahead at QT, we will be fine. Not sure I could stomach them leading by 3+ goals.

Tigers led the Giants by HT by just 1pt. It was ONLY because Patton passed off after marking I50 with less than ~ 10s on the clock. We are a far superior side to GWS, we wouldnt be making those kind of rookie errors in a big game. Arguably the runner should be shot for GWS for not getting the message out to the players about time left. GWS kick that goal and they suck all of the Tigers momentum into HT. GWS were leading the Tigers deep in the 2nd quarter. After the first 10minutes, the GWS never ever led again for their match against us.

As much as they talk about the advantage of the G for the Tigers, they had that advantage because the prelims are the peoples grand final. There will not be 95,000+ supporting the Tigers for starters which is what GWS had to contend with. Even despite that, the GWS who lost 7 away games in 2017, still should have been leading at HT without their best ruckman and arguably their forward and with Shiel concussed before HT. We led GWS by 7+ goals.

Our forwards > their defense
Our defense > their forwards
Their midfield need to dominate and we know that's down to cotchin, martin and prestia.

Im not convinced Martin will play in the midfield. I think personally he is carrying a rib injury and therefore being played up forward.

The tigers were even with Geelong until the half way point of the 3rd. They were even with the giants until the half. We blew up the opposition from the start.

Exactly. We just need to play the same way or close to every other game where we have played well and we win.

I can comfortably concede with Martin.
Agree. I wouldn't bother tagging him, even if fit, he's too good. Cotchin gets the tag, Dusty can be their only dominator and we win.

However if Dusty does have a ribs issue, we cover them all over.
Agree again.

It's going to interesting to see if he starts forward - and then stays there (at least for significantly longer than usual). Psychologically huge for our guys if that happens.

Edit: it's "their", not "there"! How embarrassment.
