Wielding the axe vs Brisbane (aka changes)

Bring in Daniher as a leading CHF and leave Neagle in the square. Its about time we started playing Daniher in that role while we wait for Gumbleton and/or Still. Lucas is finished.

Also, what is going on with Jetta? I would like to see Jetta, Myers, Davey, Houli back in the team for a bit of pace and energy.

Its seems as though that youthful enthusiasm that we had in spades earlier in the season had wained. Weather that be a long season finally catching up with young bodies and minds or weather its our senior players being played when underdone i'm unsure. What i do know is that a few blokes need a spell and we need to inject some hunger back into the side. Hooker has had a fair run, but looks to be running on empty (bellchambers in). Lucas is looking team hampering slow (daniher in). I think its time that Houli got his chance, you can only keep a bloke out of the side so long before they loose interest and maybe this is where a bit of that youthful exuberance can come from - skipworth out.

lets hope we can have a really stirring win against the lions and that springboards one final assult on gaining a September start.

Sorry I can agree with people when it's said he holds up our run, but obviously you've got no idea here as his skill errors are far and few between. His effective disposal rate was around 95% against WCE, best in the team.

I've seen him butcher the ball on many occasion dona! I'm not the only one who has this opinion about about him. Go to the footy and you'll hear it.OK so his efficiency was 95% that's great, he just has no influence on a game anymore and the harsh reality IMO is he just doesn't fit the make up of this club and to be be honest I cant see him a part of this clubs next premiership.

He's just not damaging enough your supposed to improve as a player as you go forward he has yet to take his game to the next level. Since making the AA team in 04' he has just gone backwards am I right or wrong?

No way should McVeigh be picked ahead of Houli, Myers or Jetta. Needs to prove his fitness and form at Bendigo. If Knights puts him straight in I will lose all faith.

Myers.
Fair dinkum.

In : Winderlich, Davey, McVeigh
Out : NLM, Welsh, Skipworth

If Lloyd is fit then Lucas gets dropped.

I gave Welsh one more chance after his shocker last week but today wasn't much better at all. I know he gived his heart and soul but his diispposal is terrible and he persists in these 15 sideways kicks which completely stops our flow.

Pears is on his last chance at the moment too. Thats 2 bad ones ina row. Hope he hasn't been drinking his own bathwater because he's starting to play like it.

So you have been at the Bendigo games and seeing how well Myers has played ?
His form has been very good. You may think he is a dud but that is no reason not to select a young player who has displayed good form!!

I agree.

However thats two bad ones in a row and worryingly his disposal and decision making is coming apart a little.

Don't get me wrong I rate him as a player but if guys like Riewoldt, Lynch and Kennedy are making him look ordinary then I hate to think what will happen if Brown and Bradshaw decide to get going.

Maybe the inclusion of Hurley has hurt him a little.

Maybe the complete lack of pressure through the midfield has hurt him too. Not easy being a defender one on one when the supply is very good and has little pressure.
People are seem to point the finger at defenders very easily but it is not like our side pushes back and helps them out all that much.

Time to clean out the crap and let some young players come in who will play with passion.

Ins - Bellchambers for Hooker, we need another real ruckman, Cale has done a great job but is not a real ruckman and Paddy needs help.

Lloyd for Lucas, scotty really struggled today, If Lloyd doesnt come up then give Daniher a crack at it.

Houli for Slattery - need more movement and run from the back, slattery is too negative and slows down our game plan.

Winder, Davey, Myers and Zaharakis can all come in for NLM, Skipworth, Lonergan and Hocking.

McPhee has to play half forward, its where he does his best work as a lead up marking target.

B Houli Hurley Fletcher
HB Dempsey Pears Myers
C Winders Watson Lovett
HF McPhee Lloyd Monfries
F Davey Neagle Dyson
FOLL Ryder Prismall Welsh
INT Stanton Zaharakis Bellchambers Reimers

how can you bring in daniher if he didnt even play in the 2s on the weekend?? go figure.. agree with jetta, has to be given a shot soon along with myers and houli!

My thoughts exactly Ant.

We played better at the start of the season, with a team stock full of youthful exuberance. We were also fit.

Now, since players have returned from injury, we have a considerably older, and more unfit team. You can't tell me that Welsh, McVeigh, Lucas, Skipworth, NLM and others currently deserve to be in the team, considering fitness and age, when we have youth who are pushing for a spot and have been consistently good throughout the year.

IMO our supposedly 'shit', inexperienced team was miles ahead of our current, 'mature' team. They at least suited our game plan, contributed full pre seasons, and gave 100% every game. We now look slow and indecisive.

Perhaps at some stage Knights will realise why we haven't been playing our much acclaimed game plan, rather than blaming the players for it. We have lost guys like Houli, Zaka, and Jetta, who all provide run and carry, for the likes of an unfit Skipworth, Welsh and McVeigh.

This is not to say that I don't want Welsh, McVeigh etc in the team. I just think they needed more time in the 2s to get some fitness, and at this stage our younger players need to be rewarded for consistency at Bendigo.

If Knights was serious about Essendon's future then he would make a mass of changes this week, and we would see the axing of guys like Skipworth, the resting of Welsh and Lucas (don't care if it's his penultimate season, he is costing the team and has done so for the entire year), whilst Lloyd and McVeigh are given more time to rest up. Ryder needs a break from almost full time rucking duties, I think its about time that Bellchambers was given a go- how will he ever get a game if he can't with Hille currently out?

Ins: Houli, Myers, Jetta, Bellchambers.
Outs: NLM (possible susp.?), Welsh (rest.), Skipworth (omitted) , Hooker (rest.)

Completely agree with this. The balance that our midfield had at the start of the season, has been upset with the changes we've made in the middle of the season. When Watson was the only in-and-under player, and had lovett and co. streaming past, our game plan was very solid, even without our forwards in great form.

Also, we've lost a ton of speed at HF and HB by dropping zaharakis and houli.

The players that we've brought in are long serving players at essendon, but need to fit in with the game plan before they get to play in the seniors.

Never understood all the McPhee hate. Not his fault he plays every single position ever invented by his coach. Cant expect consistency when the bloke doesnt know if he will be playing FF, CHF or peeling the oranges.

Mcphee gets a raw deal from frustrated essendon supporters who wish he could reclaim his AA form! problem is that he doesnt have the freedom to play in a way that he could back then as a half back flanker. now he is expected to play a different role for the side as an undersized KP player. get off his back guys, he is a core player in our side, cannot afford to drop him when we have mugs like skipworth running around in our side! dont get me wrong skippy has been servicable but i dont think he cuts it in our best 22! NLM also is in the same position as mcphee.. undersized and trying to play a role which is probably a bit beyond his capeablities (height/size wise), i love his aggression, i really think he is an important player who cant be dropped!

Agree with this first part of your statement, since our slide of sorts, we have risked players, brought them back in to early, or simply have not taken the neccesary time to come back from injury, most of ourt key injuries this year have caused a following injury, from Laycock, who was brought into the reserves, then injured himself, Hurley after round one was then injured following a "succesful" recouperation, even Welsh who has come back into the side has been good, but far from being at an onballers level of fitness, Monfries the other week did not warrant senior selection after his hamstring strain, and subsequently sturggled in his comeback match, the kids were the ones getting the job done for us, Hocking, Lonergan, Watson were winning the contested ball, giving it to the running players, ala, Dempsey, Zaharakis, Lovett, Dyson etc. Just goes to show that these "Star" players in Mcveigh, Welsh even Brent Stanton, are just good honest footballers when their are other good players around them, on this weeks changes.

Any ways, changes; would like to see Bellchambers come in, remember people, it is only a chop out for Ryder, not replacing ryder as our number one ruckmen, would love to see Daniher given a run in the seniors, has played solid football at CHF the last few weeks for the Bendigo Bombers, and he may soon form that long standing partnership with Neagle if Gumby does not come up, Myers and Houli have both starred at Bendigo the past month and deserve a senior berth, Jetta, despite all the criticism he recieves does not deserve a senior berth just yet, and may spend the following week at Bendigo again, may look at Quinn also as he was among the better players yet again for Bendigo, may not get the call up, but then again, anything is possible.

In: Winderlich (If Fit) Davey (If Fit) Zaharakis (If Fit) Houli, Daniher
Out: Lucas, NLM, Welsh (Rest), Reimars, Lovett (Inj - bad corkie unlikely to come up)

Mcphee to the forward line.

Lucas out if Lloyds fit.
Winders in for Lonegran.
Houli in for Dempsey- very Lazy defence today refused to chase.
Myers in for Lovett Muarry.
Davey in for........leave it with me for the momment.
Mcveigh- full hit out in the vfl???????? He'll be back!

Funny for all the stick we get for hijacking topics and the like, we're probably two of the most sensible posters on here after a loss...:D

I mean.

I SAY WE SHOOT LOVETT-MURRAY OUT OF A CANNON ****ING HACK I DIDN'T ACTUALLY WATCH THE GAME BUT SLATTERY SHOULD ALSO BE DROPPED FOR HOUIL AND STANTON IS A DISGRACE TO HIRD BRING IN KADE KLEMKE
A week after he was our best player u want Slattery dropped are u serious. At least the guy has a crack not like some of the soft ***** we have.

Neagle was good today always seems too do well when we struggle.

Ins (hopefully) Winders,Houli,Davey,Belly
Outs Lucas,Skipworth,Hooker,Mcphee

I know! Let's drop 3 talls and only bring 1 in!

Houli for Slattery - need more movement and run from the back, slattery is too negative and slows down our game plan.

What a load of absolute shite.

10 changes is a joke as well.

Outs: Welsh/Prismall/Hocking (one of them, not sure which one, probabaly welsh) Reimers, Lucas (:(), Skipworth, NLM

Ins: Jetta, Davey, Houli, Myers (if fit), Atkinson/Zaka

I suggest atkinson and houli, to come in and play in the back line for dempsey, and put dempsey on a wing or in the forward line. Is being tagged out of the game, and has given us very little run for about 5 weeks now. Winderlich was one fo the few players crumbing in the forward line, hence why i think jetta should be in. Myers form has been good in the vfl and i think he will off more then reimers is at the moment.

I dont understand the call for Lonergan to be dropped I think he has played quite well. What do people think of the General(Fletch) maybe playing as a farward? instead of lucas who unfortunatly may have run his race

I don't mind that idea, we are a quite tall down back anyways.

In: Houli, Zaharakis, Davey and Winderlich
Out: Skipworth, Lucas, Lovett-Murray and Hocking

Neagle, Hurley and McPhee to play forward
Pears, Hooker and Fletcher to play defence

Hooker to help out Ryder, and McPhee to go back and help out.

If one of Stanton, Watson or Lovett doesn't get up, then see if McVeigh is fit, otherwise retain Hocking.

we needed to drop the whole team becase they all play like a bunch of rabbits who have just eaten some pieces of seasoned pumpkin with sweet shilli and sour cream sauce..

I think you've taken a wrong turn and ended up on the Bombers board - the Blues board it that way --->
