We can only play who we're scheduled to play. Funny how we've been injured all year yet we can beat Essendon. How'd you guys go?
A more pertinent question may be how does he think they will go in the future and yes we have had as many or more both long term and short term injuries than the Eagles,3 knee reco,s in 1 year does not happen often.

We look a better side without Dawes. Wood played well all be it on 3 game 18 year old while Didak will never be the player he was in 2010.

Goldsack looks a lot better as a partner for Cloke than Dawes has this year. More mobile, decent kick for goal and strong in the air.

Surely if Tarrant, Brown and Reid are all fit, Keefe would push Dawes out of the side as Forward/2nd ruck.

With or without Tarrant. Goldsack is now making a name for himself as the third tall forward.

Dawes is seriously under the pump. Good problem for Collingwood that Keeffe is simply demanding selection.

Surely FIGJAM needs to drop Dawesy to the magoo's.

And with Browny's injury, perhaps give some younguns a game or 2.

Would love to see Marley Williams make his debut and possibly blood either Ceglar or Witts.

Also, Seedsman is Pendles 2.0.

Buckley is getting plenty of gametime into youngsters..........Keeffe Seedsman Fasolo Sinclair Yagmoor Paine etc

They will alll get their chances in time. With Browns injury I'd stick with Dawes and swing Keeffe back into defence. When Tarrant/Brown come back then if Dawes hasnt lifted, hes back to the twos.

Agreed mate, started a topic on it on The Pies board, a few people agree too. Finding his placely is Le Golde Sacque.

To be 5-2 with the injuires we've had I'm fairly happy. Watching last nights game I still think our gameplan needs work as we seem to be very suseptable to easy goals over the back of the 'press/zone'.

Out of 10 I think our performance has been around the 6/7 out of 10 mark. We've had very laps patches and have looked uninterested in some passages but unstoppable in others (see 3rd qtr vs Richmond and 1st qtr vs Brisbane)

With players to come back I hope we can keep fit and start stringing together some consistent performances.

Better check your own draw there buddy!

Eagles beat up on some bottom 4 teams and suddenly they're the next Geelong??
How is this relevent? All I said was I don't think Collingwood has a good fwd other than Cloke. Somebody disagreed with me saying that the Pies had numerous fwds play well last night vs Brisbane. I then responded with it was only Brisbane. How is any of what I said there not fact?

Might want to look up definition of a fact as opposed to an opinion. Also check what you originally said.

You have to question some people's intelligence (or should i say trolls)

They can win the flag, haven't reached the heights of 2010 and most of 2011 yet but are still 5-2.

I would think they are behind Hawthorn and Carlton at this stage, the injuries being a factor in my thinking.

I actually think Collingwood will win the premiership this year. They are not playing well, but they are winning, that is always a good sign. When they get their players back and start playing their best footy, they'll be the team to beat again. I've tipped them to knock us off quite easily this week (hard to say that, but we are not travelling well at all).

Injuries will certainly play a big part, another couple of long term injuries and it's all over red rover.

Gameplan looks like it's still a work in progress, structurally we have improved significantly over the past 3 or 4 weeks but we seem to have difficulty capitalising on momentum which might simply be an issue with our forward line which I see as our weakness at the moment. Also, we seem to be split right open from opposition kick ins, something we really need to address.

Still a long way to go in the season but hopefully we're pacing ourselves to really peak later in the season rather than run out of puff like last year.

Collingwood are simply better than Hawks.

I can see them making GF v Carlton or even an Essendon

Didak was a breath of fresh air, he looked like he was moving beautifully!
Unlike last year with his injury.

I had pretty much given this year away to Adelaide after last weeks impressive win vs Sydney and now they look like the real thing after comfortably taking care of Geelong.
But I must say I like how we are still somehow winning even with our shocking run of injuries.

Johnson is more important than Ball imo, our midfield depth was always going to cover for Ball, but Johnsons running is so underrated it's a joke.
He is crucial to our structures and if we are any chance for the flag we need him fit before finals.

The positive I see from this years injury run is all the games the kids are getting means next year we are going to be pretty much unstoppable again :D

Yes, I am hearing that too. Goldsack doing nicely.

Flag...Long way away.

Good to see Didak back and running!

the difference between 2010 and 2011 is in 2010 we slowly worked into the season. In the 2nd half we were pretty much certainties to take out 2010 in my opinion. in 2011 we busted our gut from the start.I liken this years start to 10 so far.Lets hope we win it again:thumbsu:

As others have said, one more big injury and we are in trouble.

For us to truly move into top gear and be a threat, we need Dale Thomas back and firing like the All-Australian he was last year. It takes some of the pressure off Swan and Pendles when we play against the best teams, plus he has that run and carry and x factor that most of our forwards don't have, meaning he can be a handy goalkicker. With Beams and Sidebottom playing so well as more full time midfielders, it means we lose their class in the forward line, with Thomas back, one of Pendles, Swan or Thomas can always be forward which would be a big help. We need Alan Didak to kick goals again, and create goals and to play somewhere near his 2010 form. He was very ordinary for passages against Brisbane and looked past it, but eventually he got into the flow, and I think he is just the type of player to build on that and get better over the next couple of weeks.

We have the Cats and then Adelaide at AS. Both are very difficult games and I am guessing by the end of round 9 we will know a lot more about whether we have that gear to still match the best.

A couple of big positives from the year, Maxwell has been superb so far and looks back to his 2009 form. (he was just ok in 2010 apart from finals) With him up and running, O'Brien looks more confident and that releases Shaw to a more wing/half back role. And Cloke has barely had a dominant game all year, we have lost high quality players for extended period and yet we are still 5-2. Having said this, we have only really beaten Essendon, though I think that win is being regarded as much better now given their recent form. I thought it was a great win on the day too given the players we had unavailable.
