Will Dawes replace Cloke this week?

I cant see why Dawes could not get a crack, he presents a lot in the VFL and with better delivery he may be an option and at least provide a target. Need to make sure Pendles and Davis are both 100% right I would go with.
Out: Cloke (sus) Pendles (inj) Davis (inj)
In: Dawes, Iles, Cox

B: Maxwell Wakes Brown

HB: Shaw O'Brien Clarke

C: Iles Burns Shaw

HF: Didak Reid Cox

FF:Thomas Dawes Medhurst

Foll: Fraser Obree Swan

Bench: Lockyer, Bryan, Wellingham, Johnson

Pendlebury trained well today, no problems

yep expect dawes to come in for trav and wood to come in for josh.

dawes will contest and, with good delivery, he may kick 2 or 3. that's about as good as any of the other options will do.

and we give him a taste even if it is just for 1 game. :thumbsu:

Well on last weeks form alone it would be an injustice if Dawes played and McCaffer wasnt promoted off the rookie list.

McCaffer kicked four goals in his first game in a few weeks, yet Dawes has not kicked more then 1 for a few weeks.

I think we will see Dawes begin to fully develop next year, 18 months after doing his knee, as has been shown in the past from previous knee reco players like lockyer.
I concur. Promote MacAffer for Rusling and lets see what he can do.

Why not?

I would love to see Dawes play this week, since he has been so highly talked about..... We couldn't do much worse than we did last week.

Give Dawes a go Malthouse!

personally i dont think dawes is up to it,
we should try to bring in cameron wood and put fraiser FF and leave chris bryan and cameron wood in the ruck

I'd like to see Dawes given a shot

He hasn't been kicking bags of goals but given the woeful VFL team he is in at the moment it is understandable. He doesn't stop presenting and will apply pressure to his man when they have the ball, also named amongst the best in last weekends VFL game.

Fraser can't even jump at the moment so putting him at FF ain't going to do much, might as well give Dawes a run

I personally think collingwood needs a "BUDDY" use are really struggling in the forward deparment, think u need to ring up the Hawthorn football club so they can give a few tips on how a forward line structures.

Erm, Nathan Brown was barely any better than Dawes currently is last year. Yet he is now playing every game. I see no reason why Dawes couldn't come in, particularly after being named in the best last week, deserved or not and I'd be willing to bet he'd look a lot better playing for the seniors than he does at VFL level.

If Brown can play AFL football with poor VFL form behind him, why can't Dawes? For me it's about whether they show they have the talent to perservere with, not if they can dominate at VFL level. Granted Dawes has mostly done nothing, but there are factors contributing to that besides him just not playing well, and to be honest we need a like for like replacement. Dawes is the only one that fits the bill. I'd give him a go just to see what he has.

Dawes Just needs the chance ............ just u wait.
And Macaffer well 70 goals in 20 games in the tac cup of 2006 after kicking no goals in the first for games so 70 goals in 16 games well surely he deserves a spot....... dont you think? it could now be time to unleash some more youngsters to the big time and see what theycan do we know they will have the eagerness to compete.......

Chris Dawes is certainly one who has been playing the key forward role in the VFL, and he will come up in our match committee discussions as we make decisions on what is the best team to put out against them.

Very interesting. He's in consideration it seems.

We could potentially. have our first 3 picks in the 2006 draft in the one forwardline this weekend.

There will be someone coming in to cover Travis's role for us this week, so I can't foresee too many positional changes to cover his absence. It's about playing a role, and we have some players in the VFL playing in the forward line at the moment that we will be looking to come in and play that role.

The decision will need to be made on whether that will be another tall player or a medium-sized or a small.

If true this puts an end to the possibility of playing Brown as a forward. Looking promising for Dawes however he will be the only big man playing forward which is a lot of pressure for his debut. Other options for them may be to bring JA in or Cox.

I think you should call up Oxford and find out how the English language is 'Structured'.
I'd love to see Dawes play but didn't he say himself that he's not 100% fit? Mind you i think this was a few weeks ago.

I would hate to see Dawes play because at this stage he is simply not up to it. He may be in the future but he is not now.

A forward line with the inexperience of both him and Reid would spell absolute disaster for the Pies this weekend.

I'm leaning to us going in small in the forward line and try to create mismatches for their backmen. This will also help to create defensive pressure in our forward line.

They have tried that and has Failed each time:(

I cant recall the last time we gave this a serious shot and in any event our current small forwards are better these days. It would involve much of our forward line pushing up the ground into the centre and leaving a lot of space in our forward line to run back in to.

This also creates a more crowded centre corridor which may assist against their superior midfielders. This is especially so at Teltra dome.
