Pretty simple. Go or stay?

I'm an Orlando fan, but personally if he is serious about winning multiple championships he should leave. Too many aging players on the current squad with large contracts.
Don't see why he would stay, except for his love of the city. But it can't be more important than winning.

Where does he go though?

will stay for 1 more year and thats it...bulls to offload boozer and someone else, in comes howard

I don't see anyone taking turk or arenas. So there pretty much screwed.

Wouldn't mind seeing him at the Bulls, trade for Noah and some fillers.

Dirk should leave Dallas, he wants to win and they haven't won anything in the 12 years he has been there.

You have to understand the situation there in. They can't make the team around him any better, stuck with the bad contracts.

Certainly appears as though he wants to leave but the lockout is likely to be his biggest enemy in making that happen.

Dont want him at Chicago. Whilst a very good player, we would have to give up too much to get him. Probably Noah, and he is the glue that sticks us all together. He will no doubt end up in LA with Kobe.

I understand it perfectly, what makes you think i don't? And what makes the situation different from Dallas' who took on a whole heap of bad contracts?

the lockout will change a lot of this either way.

Yeah don't wanna give up Noah for Dwight now......

Just think it's completely different to Dallas. What bad contracts did they take on?
Can't do anything with guys like Turk and Arenas, who in my mind don't deliver this season coming they will be close to finished. Dwight's entering his prime now, if there isn't enough talent around him he may want to leave.

Agree the the lockout will change it.

I'm obviously not talking about 10-11 Mavericks people. Dirk didn't sign an 11 year contract when he came into the league.

Everyone remembers the Kidd for Harris trade but how many bother to remember it included Dallas sending over scrubs like DeSagana Diop, Trenton Hassell, Maurice Ager and Keith Van Horn. it's so short sighted to say you can't get rid of those contracts.

Heck last year apparently you couldn't get rid of turkeyglues contract yet he was traded. The Knicks 3 years ago were stuck with untradeable contracts that would bog them down for 7-8 seasons.

He will no doubt end up in LA with Kobe.

most likely not, bynum is buss meisters boy, his own personal project:

At midseason Jim Buss steadfastly refused to trade Bynum, or to even consider trading Bynum even if it might net swingman Carmelo Anthony. Bynum has always been Jim Buss' most important project. He has stuck his neck out for the talented young center on many occasions.
If he continues to do so, it reflects both his loyalty to Bynum and to his own legacy because of the role he played in drafting Bynum out of high school.

How does him stating that he wants to remain in Orlando and that Orlando is his first choice make it appear that he wants to leave?

Who knows Magic you might be better off with out him!
Can i buy some pot off you?

I think the Arenas move was absolutly garbage but it's not over and done with Yet. I have Faith that Howard will stay, they'll ship out Turkalou/Arenas, Im thinking they probably cut the salary cap a bit moving on Rashed Lewis/Vince Carter for Gilbert Arenas/Hedo

Free agency is the big test, they need to grab a big name and trade Gilbert/Hedo to basically whoever wants it for scraps.

He's leaving.

Does everybody not see the similarities between Lebron/Cleveland and Dwight/Orlando.

They spent a kajillion dollars to try to keep him but they spent it wrongly.

The Magic are not better than Miami so he will leave.

You say this as if teams are clamoring to acquire $120 million dead weights.

And no, they took on more money bringing in Gilbert because Rashard's final year is only partially guaranteed ($4 million payout or something)

The mistakes have been made and it's not going to get fixed in time. Their best hope is that Gilbert takes whatever Rashard Lewis was taking and he comes back as Agent Zero.

Sure but they were a terrible side during that time and still aren't that flash. Dwight wants to win and it would not be wise to go through a knick like period. At least Dirks team was winning 50+ games each of those season and a few of those years were serious contenders. Magic really cant afford a big drop off this year/next.

52-30.

That was the Magic record this year.

I'm still waiting for the lockout negotiations to finish. Owners are pushing hard for a new Allan Houston rule which enables them to pay out dead weight and not be effected by the cap. If that happens you can say bye bye to Hedo / Gilbert.

If not we still have tradeable pieces in JJ, Bass, Nelson. My theory is that he will sign a 2 year extension. If no success than a 28y.o Dwight will walk.
