Will Hayward
Spritely Sydney Swans forward Will Hayward enjoyed a rocketing start to his career as he became the 11th-youngest player in the AFL era to reach 50 career goals in 2018. The 2016 draftee’s nippy pace and cunning goal awareness have made him a dangerous option in coach John Longmire’s forward line. A broken jaw and a persistent hip injury limited Hayward to just 12 goals in 13 senior games in 2019, but the South Australian is attacking the 2020 campaign on the back of his first full pre-season. Don’t be surprised if the exciting Swan finds himself on a wing this year.

Will Hayward
DOB: 26 October 1998
DEBUT: 2017
DRAFT: #21, 2016 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Walkerville (SA)/North Adelaide (SANFL)

I bet this news has made Great Uncle Horries day 🤣

Certainly made mine though .....

As long as the amount is not too OTT we have done well.

2? who is the second one, I know Logan, but are you talking Chad? He's contracted next year
Yep the Chad. The end of next year is too close for comfort, and so is all the moving rumours that i can't be bothered getting nervous over for a whole year and a half. Give him the remainder of the cap after logan & Noah Balta and call it a day

Hi Bonz, he has looked better and is tackling with more intent. However he is not within a bulls roar of $800k. Reckon 600k under the new cba more than rewards him.

I’d prefer he be on $500k.

I’d also make the point he disappoints under pressure and twice had close to doughnuts at half time in this his break out season. He is not a big Finals series player. His GF was as valuable to the team as Sam Reid.

Big finals series players? we have a lot who haven't really shown that yet by that measure .

I'm not sure how people pull these exact numbers out sometimes

I have no concerns he'll sign but I doubt they are even vaguely getting towards that, there's so much time. May have more money after what we do post season too

Yeah it's not like we're paying him ourselves, who the **** cares if he's on 500k or 600k?

Yep this. Dunno why people get so caught up in the figures. If the club values a player and they stay as a Swan, who gaf! Trust the club to pay what they deem is appropriate for the squad they're trying to keep together.

Would love to know how much , something had to give ,
happy to keep him and hope he continues to improve as shown this year
To be honest, I'm just happy to keep him.
It won't be as much as the Crows offered but perhaps the extra year is all Will wanted to get closer to the 6 years Carlton reportedly offered.
Very happy as a Swan supporter to have him running around for the next 5 or so years in the red & white.
It is what will give us a chance of winning at least 1 flag in the next 5 years.

Very happy about this re-signing. Most pleasing is that it seems our core group all want to stay together, most probably accepting slightly less in the hope they can win a flag or three with their mates. I'd say Logan can't be far off given Freo seem to look well stocked for tall forwards and will most probably look at going all out for Chad.
