Will Perth be the decider for the test series?

Looks like Hobart is a washout along with Brisbane, which leaves Perth to host the 3rd test match that can decide the series outcome! Geeze, how bad would it look if we lost the series 1-0 to New Zealand?!?

On radio talkback yesterday they were saying they should give Perth the 2nd test and Hobart the 3rd test. Should the ACB consider this or just put it down to bad luck for this year?

Often, 3 days is all we need to win a test so I guess you have to give the Kiwi batsmen some credit. Its pretty hard to win when God is against you.

What would be really ironic if Stephen Fleming was to declare with New Zealand 290 odd runs behind and 60 overs left. Like wise the NZers could be bolwed out at a similar score.

What are the odds of Australia trying to force another day five victory by an immediate declaration?

Definetaly not to be ruled out.

There'll be no declarations. New Zealand have nothing to gain, the pitch is playing too well, the run chase was too close for comfort last time, and there'll be more rain today.

New Zealand would be better off batting and batting against our bowlers, to get a bit more experience and try to grind them down a bit.

If they declared 290 behind I'm sure Steve Waugh would enforce the follow on.

BTW it is still raining and even if they get back on now there won't be any chance of a result.

Is there anyone with brains at the ACB? Most people with half a brain would realise that the weather in Queensland and Tasmania this tiem of year is far from great. They need to fix their scheduling. For a start the first test should have been in Perth.

Queensland is usually OK...Tassie another story. They should certainly have gone to Perth before Hobart.

I don't think they've done too much wrong in the fixtures here, Brisbane has always been the Test opener and there haven't been too many that have been draws because of the weather over the last few years, the Ashes test 3 years ago and this last Brissy test would be the only washouts I can remember there for a long time, and of all the tests in Hobart I think this may be the first that's actually been affected to this extent by the weather.

It's frustrating at the time, but it doesn't happen all that often.

I'm going Friday - opening day! From what I've heard there should be a good crowd going since this test is going to decide the series. If you want to meet up and stuff send me a PM and we'll work out details from there... Do I dare to bring a beach ball or will one of those Security Guards take it off the crowd again?

Looks like the only day I can go is Saturday, Sunday or Tuesday. I bloody have work till 12PM on the other days and the Test may be over on Tuesday. Hmm, gotta think about this one...

At worst, you'll only miss the first session on the Friday and Monday (10:30-1:30). I was thinking of weekend but maybe too many young tackers and oldies.

Hmm, gotta ring my mate tommorow anyway to see what days he's free. I would prefer to go on Friday or Monday as there would be a smaller crowd and less kiddies to piss me off. If we win the toss, what do you think we should do? Personally I don't really mind... batting we get to see Langer open on his home soil. If we bowl it would be great to see McGrath try and get his first 5 wickets in an innings at the WACA along with Dizzy and Brett Lee!

If I was a Black Cap selector I would seriously consider playing seven regular batsman and just the three front line bowlers.

Under normal circumstances Vettori is going to bowl half the overs anyhow and Astle is more economical, and has been more successful, than New Zealand's cafeteria bowling attack (the batsmen help themselves).

Stack the team with batting and while hoping to win, play for a draw. A drawn series is way beyond the expectations of all pundits a month ago.

PS New Indian intrepretation of ICC match rules. If this test is drawn New Zealand win the series by virtue of winning the first two tosses.
