The stat is true. No premiership side has ever taken the field together again.
Richmond got close in Rd 1 1933. We only had one change, Dyer came in for Jack Baggott..
Thanks for that Rhett! I'd been wondering before the season if our 22 would play together again and if it had happened before. I'd never Googled it before but just did and found this. It expands on it a bit even though it's from 2015:

That’s a big out. Did Dyer end up doing much or going on with it?
Any info much appreciated.

i think it will. Hardwick will do it in 2 weeks (after broad has a game in the 2s) - just to be the first. each of the outs adds something major to the position they play.
Just won’t hapoen. Even if those two come back in all likelihood it’ll be at the expense of a premiership player either through form or injury.
It’s hard for people to get their heads around but even just this weeks team is long odds to ever play as a 22 again. And we have been incredibly lucky too, imagine how many come and go when you just take one player out with a long term injury. Nothing stays still and that not really always a bad thing.

i do agree with this - i would just like to see it happen. and think that once caddy and broad and Caddy are back from suspension, good chance they will come in. i just couldnt see another premiership player being dropped - although Short has been tremendous, it seems to be Broads role.

oh cr@p i forgot Rioli is a long term out, it cant happen in 2 weeks...i guess it all comes down to when Rioli is fit again and what the team looks like by then.

You’re right Short is outperforming many.

Nope.
Retirements/trades/injuries/suspensions/ form changes means it wont happen.

Obviously trades are done for this year, but the chance of the exact same 22 being all uninjured, in form and still the best 22 are extremely slim. Form and fitness fluctuate week to week, even for the best sides.

Its an amazing stat, but its very understandable when you think about it.

to be fair, most premiership sides probably strive for it to not happen.

They cant rely on just natural improvement from their list to stay on top, and aim to combat older players form dropping off.

But it would be a nice moment...

Look at the Bullies, 25 games after their GF they have like 11 premiership players in their team!!!! HALF

We have the best chance because none of the players that played in the premiership left the club, are old, were in the team due to an injury or were unexpectedly selected.
It would be a historical moment , I can only see injury would be our biggest nemesis to halting this.
I want to believe it’s going to happen, but my punting and statistical knowledge are telling me to walk away.

In trying to find when Rioli was going to be back so I could make something forming an educated analysis on this, I looked at the AFL injury list.

It has Ben Griffiths - Retired - directly above Daniel Rioli - Foot - TBC.

I read it has Daniel Rioli - Retired, and I have not felt as momentarily devastated as that ever before.

Also we didn't trade to bring in anyone who would be a best 22 lock, or have any retirements from the 22.

19 of 22 today. Premiership players Ellis and Townsend omitted from last week, replaced by premiership player Vlastuin, Caddy and Graham. Non-premiership players Higgins, Short and Conca in the side and probably doing enough to stay there, so if/when Rioli, Ellis or Townsend come back into the side it may just be at the expense of other premiership players.

Higgins is still really only playing the first half of each game before he runs out of steam
Happy for him to be getting games and experience, but I expect him to be pushed out of the side when we come up against some more serious challenges
