I hope Welsh plays this weekend as we need a forward to kick a bag and we need Roo in the midfield. Does anyone else think Stevens should be dropped for Bock? Would be good if Hudson comes back next weekend after a full game in the SANFL this weekend.

Hudson wont be back next week, too big a risk. Let him play a few SANFL games first and see how he pulls up.

I would prefer Bock over Stevens even though Stevens hasnt been that bad, but Bock will be more important for us in the finals. Might as well bring him into the side now.

Hudson won't be back until round 20 at a minimum

that would make it close to or over 12 months since the injury

He will need to get some match fitness back

But IMHO, if we are to win the flag, Hudson must be in the team. We are getting killed in the middle and have been for a month.

On topic, yes i think Welsh should play and rotate Roo through the middle, bench and forward pocket

agree, but leave hudson for a couple more weeks. He's still only had one game of reserves.

FINALLY!

I am pretty sure Roo's return to the middle has been planned from day one and whether Welsh comes back or not this timetable is not likely to be altered.

Stevens cannot be dropped as his form has been excellent.

In cricket, do you take the average batsman in good form, or the good player in average form?

Exactly. Dizzy Gillespie didnt get kept in as a batsman because he made a double ton did he ?

Play the side that will win you finals. IMO, Bock should be eased back in the team over the next 5 weeks. Should almost be cherry ripe for finals.

changes over the next few weeks should be:

IN: Welsh, Bock, Hudson, Perrie

OUT: Porplyzia, van Berlo, Stevens, Clarke/Biglands

Don't know about Huddo, but we should find a way to get game time into the other three, they could be vital to September success. I know you pick the form player and all that, but with 5 minor round games to go, you have to have an eye on making sure all your options are match ready before the real stuff starts.

Welsh doesn't need to rely on Roo moving into the midfield to play, as both can fit in our forward line ... but it gives us the flexibility to play Roo is spurts on ball (if he is able to do so). Welshy is a confidence player, so would have no problem picking him after kicking 6 goals, even if he only plays only 60% of the game.

For me Keny needs to be rested, which would mean either playing Bock or Perrie. From accounts last week, Perrie struggled, so Bock may be the better option (given he did well on his return).

There is no way Stevens deserves to be dropped. Do some of you actually watch the games? He was only 1 of 4 players who could hold his head up last week & has not dissapointed since returning to the team.
