Yes.

Unlike most finals contenders for next year, they have no real strength. Save for Collingwood who actually work as a team.

The midfield will no longer be feared, a heavy tag on Kerr will curb his influence and then the likes of Priddis and Selwood become the major ball winners.

Hardly great, quick, skillful midfielders.

You know there's a few problems when Darren Glass is made Captain, that tells me there arent many leaders at the club.

I was surprised Fletcher wasnt given a go, I mean isnt that the criteria.

The foward line as we all know, is incredilby poor. :thumbsu:

A foward line who's many weaknesses have been hidden my the volume of delivery by a superior midfield.

Quinten Lynch kicking more points than goals is pretty disgusting for a full foward.

So all in all I see a dull era for West Coast. Gone are the glory years, let's hope they dont slip into dangerous pastimes off the field.

Oh..., :thumbsu:

As Freo have proved in the past, and Nth as well form the opposite pointof view..it takes a lot more than good players to compete. As much as WC are my most despised team in the comp, if Worsfold can keep them playing for eachother, as a hard working, hard running team, they are a chance at playing in September...

I wouldn't expect thyem to be a force come September though....their forward line will be exposed time and time again I think....

Probably a troll, but in all seriousness they will come back to the pack very quickly. Will probably still make the 8, but will only scrape in and it wouldn't surprise if they did miss.

Feared only a year ago and looking like they had an dominant era ahead of them, I genuinely rate them behind North for next year.

ofcourse we will make the 4.... we have lost four main players two of which were guns but we still have a very strong list and and i think people are foolish to write us off....guess all we can do is wait till next year when all you nay sayers will have to eat your words and hats..

Pav a loser....

Not a very well disguised troll.

I'LL keep this real simple Pavsmear.

Go and list all the premiership players and experienced players with 50+ or 100+ games still at the Eagles.

Compare that to your mob.......I mean rabble.

Freo maybe old and have experience but its not in the same class as the Eagles.:D

i love it when freo fans try to take potshots at us. just give it up mate, worry about your own rabble of a 'team'.

you say we have no real strength, but any team with kerr, cox and glass in it is going to win games. and im not saying thats all we got, this 22 is not bad at all:

Selwood - Glass - B.Jones
Waters - Hunter - Hurn
Rosa - Stenglein - Braun
Wirra - Hansen - Fletcher
Lecras - Lynch - Embley
Cox - Kerr - Priddis
Seaby - Butler - Staker - Nicoski

players like embley, braun, lynch, priddis, hunter, selwood, wirra and stenglein are all quality players. not to mention waters, rosa, hurn, butler and lecras as very promising young players.

throw in some versitility in the likes of nicoski, staker, wirra, embers, hunter and hurn.

you could only dream of having a list like this pav for AA. your entire team revolves around pavlich. your defence is over rated, it concedes a ****load of goals. your fantastic attack is hardly consistent, pavlich is the only one that performs and your midfield is slow and unskilled still a lot shitter than ours.

I guess now they will be able to see what its been like for freo since they entered the AFL.

The problem for the Eagles is whether those players will perform without Judd and Cousins taking all of the heat. Stenglein, Priddis, Hurn, Braun etc are all great as 4th and 5th midfielders that rotate through the middle, but now that they have to do the lions share of the work with Kerr being tagged heavily (in the games that he plays - he's bound to miss up to 6 weeks for snotting people becuase he is being tagged) it will be a lot harder for all of them. They will hold up for a game here or there but it is a long 22 week season and i think the midfielders will be feeling the pinch come September.

I expect the Eagles to make the 8 (they do have the greatest home advantage in the league), but i think they will be weary come the business end and like this year may limp through the finals.

I think there is a need to experiment with Hunter as a permanent forward as i would expect the delivery to drop off a little this year and his pack marking will be much needed.

Last year also showed that an injury to Cox and the Eagles are in a bit of trouble. Seaby is handy, but not able to handle the 1st ruck week in week out ... and i don't see much else in the ruck on the Eagles list.

The aim of the off season is to improve your list. Other clubs have done this, can you say the same about the Eagles? Kennedy is a good get and will overtake Hansen soon (IMO), but other than that the list is a lot worse for the loss of Judd, Cousins, Wirra being a year older and appearing to struggle and Embley apparently having his heart at another club.

the yardstick for me is Staker. As soon as he is no longer in the best 22 then the Eagles are again on the way towards their next premiership.

West Coast's starting 22 is still one of the best in the AFL even without the likes of Judd and Cousins. Will make the Top 4 easily.

Your joking, right? West Coast will remain a MAJOR force for the next 4-5 years in my opinion.
Cousins was out for most of the season and Judd was pretty ineffective because of injury for the second half, so Kerr had to contend with a heavy tag then and didn't seem to struggle to much, and apart from Kerr, I think there is still an awful lot of class and skill in their midfield.
As for Glass as captain, I can't understand what the problem is with that choice, I think he shows superb leadership qualities.
They were riddled with problems, injuries and controversy all season, yet still managed to finish top 4.

West Coast will remain strong at home and will still be competitive away so there is no reason why they can't finish in the top half of the ladder.

seaby always performs when cox is injured, refer to 2nd half of 2006, first bit of 2007. sydney round 1 anyone? no cox, embley, cousins, butler, fletcher and seaby kicked jolly and everitts arse big time

while i reckon kennedy looks alright im more impressed by mitch brown, he could really become a big bolter this year.

players like priddis, stinger and braun are severely under rated. if they were playing for an easter states club they would be high rated players amongst the BF people. you can always count on them for ultimate consistency and at least 20 touches a game with tough tackling and 100% effort. those players make a team.

also regarding kerr being more ineffectual due to heavy tagging...look at the 2nd half of this year when juddy was playing mostly forward. from round 11 (judd injured) to round 20 (kerr got injured) he got: 27, 32, 33, 31 , 34, 25, 34 and 31 touches. you might say "disposals arent everything" but we know when kerr gets the ball, hes damaging.

I think WC supporters locking in top 4 are in for a rude shock. There's little doubt they can make it, however they're most definitely closer to the pack than they were.

What was the Eagles record this year when 2 of Kerr, Judd, Cousins were not playing?

Nice selective quoting on my Seaby comment. i said - "Seaby is handy, but not able to handle the 1st ruck week in week out ... and i don't see much else in the ruck on the Eagles list." I still think that Seaby can't take the number 1 spot week in week out. He has shown this regularly.

Eagles supporters have such a chip on their shoulder. I'm not from 'over east', i just don't bow down to everything that is written about the Eagles. I know a fair bit about Priddis etc ... i watch Priddis week in week out even before he was drafted. They are handy but not blue chip like Judd and Cousins.

As for Kerr ... he had Judd in the middle for the first 9-10 weeks and then Cousins from round 16. This year he will be the main man. I don't think he is mature enough to handle that role for the whole year. Kerr has a big adjustment to make on and off field to fill this role. I think the midfield will be sore and sorry by September - they will have shouldered a workload that they wouldn't have seen for a few years.

Cousins still missed a few of those games after round 16 through injury, and kerr injured his thumb and was out for thes rest of the season from that moment.

Kerr was as valuable as judd and cousins, hes been around for 7 seasons already, and thus i think he will be able to pick up the tempo and fill some of the void

ok mate, i guess only time will tell then.

im not saying we're 100% going to make top 4. i just believe we definetly have it in us to do it and i would be disapointed if we didnt.

plus why would our midfield be any more 'sore and sorry' than any other. we are known for our supreme fitness, why would we be more ragged than your team (whoever that is)

pav is just doing his regularly trolling, i wouldnt even bother arguing the point

The home ground advantage will guarantee them 8+ wins and they will have to get around 3 or 4 more to get there.

Will be a tough task to win away from home and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they missed the 8.
