He's no more arrogant or pigheaded than the posters on BigFooty. I like the way he carries on in a match. Reminds me of Happy Gilmore at times. :D

Go Lleyton!

i supported him big time until the Oz Open final last year when i think he thought he could do anything because all of Australia was behind him, then HE SCREWS UP and makes a clear foot fault so he walks towards the linesmen and abuses him. now i dont care if he wins or loses.

Wheres the patriotism guys?

Get behind your countrymen, he may be a arrogant little so and so but he needs all the support he can get and i hope he wins it.
I'm not getting behind anyone that gives Australia a bad name. The whole tennis circut hate him because he is just an absolute ********er.

How can you support someone that yells "come on" after someone else has done an unforced error or double fault? If you don't think he ever does it on those points you should seriously get out the tapes.

From the age of about 6 I was taught court etiquette and it is common knowledge in the tennis world that you must conduct yourself in a proper way, some of you who havn't played competitive tennis might not realise this and you therefore hardly have a ********ing clue. I don't mind the occasional dummy spit over a line call only if the call was made in your half of the court, otherwise you should STFU and let the linesmen and refs do their ********ing job.

Isnt it funny how 9 out of 10 people that defend Lley Lley are South Australians. Shame they cant see what the rest of Australia does; an arrogant, abusive, unsportsmenlike, disgrace :(.

Pat Rafter = Legend.

Lleyton lost any respect I had for him a few years ago, when he would continually yell "come on" on an opponents error. That is poor form, bad etiquette, disrespectful, call it what you will, it's **********house.
I hate (and hate is not a strong enough word in this instance) him so much that I went for Nalbandian in the Davis Cup. I'm a Nalbandian fan anyway, but it's the only time in my whole life I wished for Australia to lose. Thank You Lleyton.

That stereotype is garbage to say the least.

I'm not a South Aussie and I still support Lleyton.
There are just as much proportion of South Aussies that hate him as anybody, and as much proportiong of non South Aussies that support him as Australians as a whole.

Although as a Lleyton supporter, it doesn't bother me who others choose to support and hate, that statement is very true.

Because he's an arrogant prick that shows no court etiquette
His behaviour these days on court (infact we're talking a period of 2-3 years here) has been faultless. Absolutely faultless.

Either you haven't watched tennis for 5 years and/or are just looking for a reason that isn't there to criticise him.

Does his success make you feel unstable?

Because for a number of years he's been one of the best sportsman on court. But hey! don't let that get in the way of your sadly flawed agenda.

That's the thing though.

These days he's one of the least fist pumpers on court. He even very, very rarely says "C'mon!" nowadays. Not that I had a problem with in the first place.

Common myth this is.

His behaviour now is as close to impeccable as you could get. Before he was a teenager, still growing up who made a few mistakes. Nonetheless he was a pure entertainer and as far as I can remember he didn't kill anybody (Hewitt haters feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).

I prefer Federer. But only just.

His behaviour at the US open was faultless and he was not the fired up player he has been over the last four years. Maybe he's starting to realise he needs to calm down a bit to be able to challenge for the top again.

Good point milnedog. Wonder how many line judges he's going to berate for foot faulting him this year? Why should I support something like that? I suppose if he was ever a drug cheat I should also support him, just because he's Australian?

(Sydney) He may be a hot blonde, but Australian tennis star Lleyton Hewitt has a mouth like a trucker.

Playing Argentina's Guillermo Coria in Davis Cup action on the weekend at the Sydney International Tennis Center, Hewitt, ranked second in the world, let loose a barrage of swear words, name calling and rude gestures.

"Numerous times he said, 'Allez, come on', the whole day as well. He grabbed his private parts at one stage, three times in a row, and I'm about to serve and I asked him if he had an issue - or if he could find it [his penis]," Coria said following the match.

The name calling was not directed just at Coria.

After Hewitt got into an argument over a line call by Portuguese umpire Carlos Ramos he marched over to match referee Norbert Peick and pointing to Ramos asked, "Who is this ****?"

The remark is akin to someone in the US using the word "************".

He later denied to reporters that he had made the remark, but a playback of the tape from the match showed that he had said it.

The incident raised the ire of Australian LGBT rights groups. The Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby issued a statement describing Hewitt's comment as malicious, vindictive and offensive.

"Whilst we understand the tension in this match and in other sporting events, reverting to this sort of unnecessary and vile name calling is entirely inappropriate," said spokesperson Pete Dillon.

Hewitt has refused to apologize.

Despite the slur Hewitt was not censured.

Argentina went on to defeat Australia 4 - 1 to reach the Davis Cup semifinals, and was joined by Russia, Slovakia and Croatia.

It was a bitter letdown for Australia the 28-time Davis Cup winner. Argentina has never won the Davis Cup.

What success?

Was that post for real? If anything he has become worst.

Very well put. Its not as if we all woke up one day and decided to hate one of our own. I sincerely wish i could enjoy watching Hewitt and could support him (its not like there is any other male tennis players up there at the minute to barrack for) in the Australian Open. But i just cant. He (and his family by all accounts) is an absolute embarassment to our nation's proud tennis heritage. He has no respect for lesser ranked opponents, no respect for officials who are just doing their job, no respect for a crowd if they dont get behind him....Im sorry but Lleyton is just a fxxxhead.
