Out of contract, hasn't played a game this year, mostly due to injury, and has only played 10 games in his 4 years at the club. I know Port fans love him but could he decide to leave in a bid for more game time at the end of the year?

What's he worth, both in a trade and monetary wise? I doubt he'd command more than an average AFL wage and trade wise the market price seems to be in that 3rd or 4th round range. I'd hope Essendon are putting time into him.

No real stand out attributes unfortunately, but could make it as a defensive midfielder.

Would be a decent pickup for a team like Hawthorn that needs to inject some youth into their team.

3rd-4th rounder + an under average salary will be his market. Not overly upset if he leaves, he’s far too injury prone and his type isn’t hard to replace.

Day 1 through to last 20m of trade period you ask for our 2 best young players (Ridley and McGrath)
then dick around in those 20m until acquiescing to the deal you should have made day 1.

i like Drew. Shame about his injuries, but would give him a shot to be one of the bigger mids we need.

Hard to know if he will make it. Fairly slow even for an inside mid but uses the ball better than average. He’s had repeated long term foot injuries (including one he has just returned to training from) which would have clubs thinking twice before offering him a multi year deal.

port have shown a fair bit of faith in him and have been prepared to play him asap as soon as he is fit. they obviously rate him. I would be surprised if he left. injury history is a major concern.

there's plenty of opportunity for him going forward with rocky Boak Ebert and gray all being 30+

if he did leave port has zero need for picks this year so would be a 2021 pick.

If anything, I'd say it's Essendon who'd be getting the worst of that on paper. Pretty even overall IMO.

Assume Adelaide and Essendon would be keen, His had a couple games where he looked great.Good inside, can accumlate but better with the ball compared to Wines or rockliff. Feel like a late 3rd rounder is around the mark. If Wines goes we would have to keep him, as really are only other young inside mid(Atley will likely be delisted

No, he is worth a first rounder. I'd say Shiel is around the top 20, maybe a bit outside. I'm saying Wines is outside of that and to command more than a first round pick you'd want to be in the top 20.

Where did I say he was average? I said he was an excellent ball winner. I just wouldn't pay more than a first round pick for him or equivalent value.

It wasn't my idea, I would hate it if we did that trade. I want to keep Fantasia. I'm just pointing out how much you're overrating Wines and Drew if you think a possible top 10 pick and Fantasia is overs from your direction.
