I have watched a few of the games, and sometimes i must admit that after reading ct's reviews i think he must have been watching a different game.

Lawry did a pre-season with Collingwood before 2005, IIRC.

Him and Jackson Barling both look like reasonable prospects, and I wouldn't be averse to giving them rookie list spots - At very worst, they're extra height that is better than Tristen Walker and Brent Hall.

Heath Lawry is probably on the older side at 23, but he's 193cm and 94kgs.

Jackson Barling is only 20 though, and he's 192cm and 88kgs. He won the Fothergill-Round Medal last season for "Most Promising Young Talent" in the VFL - I really think he's worth a shot.

If the AFL introduced the over-23 rookie draft for one player on each list Lawry would be worth it IMO. Barling sounds like a goer. Do players from VFL affiliate sides often get drafted by their AFL counterparts? I remember thats how Sam Mitchell came to be on Hawthorn's list.

Static(ish) around the ground. Far from senior selection.

Pendles is a known ball magnet, but he didn't hurt the opposition team today.

OK effort. Needs to improve.

Just doesn't do the hard things, he has a lazy attitude and it shows.

John Anthony
Held up reasonably well. Gets beat too easily in marking contests. Goes well rebounding.

Danny Stanley
Best game I have seen him play , looked decisively quicker around the ground.

Ryan Cook
Quiet game overall. Ran well in the open spaces.

Played an attacking role from the half back line , worked beautifully.

Would have expected richards to have more of an impact. would have expected Fanning to improve and would not have know cloke was going to do his shoulder(twice)

These are 3 ruckman and i am sure most people would have expected atleast 1 to stnad up this year but for various reasons have not.

i wouldnt class C2 as a ruckman either,he is a forward who can pinch hit at best.

The simple fact is our ruck stocks are terrible and it needs to fixed this year by either draft or trade.

Just about every other team seems to have 2 reliable ruckman

I remember thinking last year that it was worth keeping all three of Richards, Fanning and C2 because one would have thought that at least ONE of them could back-up Josh this year.

Unfortunately, it has been proven that none of them are up to it, and given this, I think all three should be gone.

We need to pickup someone like Trent Knobel or Mark Jamar/Paul Johnson who is capable of playing the ruck at AFL level, and is relatively unwanted at their club, so will come cheap. Those guys could probably be had for a pick in the #30-40 range.
