I know it's early to be starting this thread but was just after some advice on going to Wimbledon.

I'll be in London from the 30th of June until the 3rd of July which coincides with week 2. Looking at getting some tickets and I know queuing is basically the only way of obtaining tickets over there.

Seems like getting show court tickets will be tough, but how early would I have to queue in order to get tickets for them, and how early do I have to queue for ground pass tickets?

Cheers guys!

If your limitless in money, there's http://www.viagogo.com/au/Sports-Tickets/Tennis/Wimbledon-Tickets But that's not really a viable option, although that's how I got my RG Men's final ticket last year (paid about $400 for that). And TA's ballot would already be done, sadly.

Since, you are doing the 2nd week, it'll be tough especially if Murray does well (although his form has slipped). The Monday is probably one of the best day at the championships because of all the matches but that means it'll be one of the busiest. I got there about 5am that day and was still about 2,000th in the queue. First 500 gets Centre Court, next 500 gets Court 1, next 500 get Court 3 and then I think it was about 4,000-5,000 or so that get in as general admission/ground pass. The other problem is that any later you arrive, the longer it gets through the queue (it takes a long time, as they open the ground at 10.30 for a 11.30 start usually), sometimes getting in at 7am at the first week, I would be one of the last few getting in the ground at about 12/12.30pm.

But I'm rambling, you have to camp overnight for centre court and court no.1 (maybe on ladies' quarterfinals day, you could get court at 4-5am if you're lucky), and I would say 5-6am for a ground pass on Monday, maybe 7-8am Tuesday/Wedensday, more so to get in time and to be able to pick what outside court you want. Once it gets to the semis and finals, the only tickets they give is ground pass and is unless Murray is playing, you should be able to arrive even at 9am and get in, think I went straight in Ladies semi final day...

The other thing you can do is wait at the resale ticket booth on the top of Henman Hill (or tiny steep ridge, looks nothing like it does on tv) later in the day and they resell tickets for people who leave (they scan people tickets if they leave) for like 10 pound and get to see the last match or so. I got to see a number of matches that way, a Ferrer match on centre court, the Men's and Ladies Doubles (Casey/Ash) finals on Centre, front row on Court No.1 for Tomic/Berdych (that was the 2nd Monday) and probably up there as one of my most memorable moments of my life (I'm not even kidding) when Hewitt beat Wawrinka on Court 1 first day, my point is for 10 pound, to get unforgettable experiences like that, it's unbeatable and you can do that if you do not feel like camping overnight.

Ask me if you got any questions. I'm pretty sure pepsi has been over there too. Have the time of your life over there.

Didn't even see this sorry mate! Thanks for the advice. I'll most likely be going on the Tuesday or Wednesday (They would be Quarters still, yes?), going with a friend I am meeting in London so we'll probably aim to get there around 5-6. Might give that resale thing a go though! Here's hoping there's some rain so that the centre court matches go late and people leave haha.

Question about getting there, is there public transport directly to the grounds (especially if we have to get there early to queue up)? I know there's the Tube but I have no idea if that goes by the All England Club.

The tube takes you to about 500m-1km away, but you get off at Southfields, not at Wimbledon oddly enough, then you just follow the signs/road and it'll take you straight there to the queue. Most people tend to take the first tube in which around 5.30-6 which was when I would get in, any earlier you would have to take alternative route (buses run all night) which I did that 2nd monday.

I would say if you are going Tuesday or Wedensday you could get about 7-8 and get a ground pass fairly easily.

Men's draw for qualies is out:

Bellucci vs. Saville - Bad draw for Luke even if Thomas is an absolute mug, no.1 seed is a tough ask
Duckworth vs. Londero - Young guy who has been playing well on clay but has never ventured up onto the grass, should be a win, faces winner of Smith Dustov in 2nd
Smith vs. Dustov - Tough one but I give a shot here to JP
Reid vs. Gigounon - Time to defend those points, good draw here, this guy scrapes in and has got that ranking by doing well in clay Futures in Eygpt... Sugita will probably be his 2nd round opponent.
Mitchell vs. Copil - Tough draw, this isn't easy and then probably Dancevic in the 2nd, yeah no chance.
Groth vs. Corrie - Probably disappointed he couldn't win Nottingham but he should win this opener. Could face Bolelli in the final round who defeated him in the final round of RG qualies. On this surface it SHOULD be a different story.
Bolt vs. Gombos - Don't know about this guy but he's on fire on clay challengers, tough match but hopefully the grass helps.

Couple of disappointing results and a couple of surprise results (good win for Saville) sort of balances it out. Just as long as Groth and Duckworth keep winning.

Women's draws:
Ana. Rodinova vs. Hradecka - Not a good one.
Barty vs. Buyukakcay - Time to step up Ash
Rogowska vs. Falconi - Tough one as well, hope she can pull through.

Groth, Bolt, Saville & Duckworth all have made it to the final round of qualies. Hopefully a couple of those darts hit the board. Groth might even have the toughest one in Bolelli while the other 3 all having winnable matches. They all play Thursday.

Barty is through to the 2nd round of the women's qualies.

Is Kokkinakis still injured?

Skipping the grass season to finish year 12. Wouldn't of been playing Wimby qualies anyway as he wouldn't of made the cutoff (he got a WC at RG)

Draw is crucial for Tomic. His ranking is going to get crunched if he can't win a couple of rounds.

I watched the game against Gasquet and he looked ok for a tune up for Wimbledon. Threw in a dud service game in the 1st and 3rd set and didn't take his bp chances but overall was sharp enough.

Avoid the top guys in the draw and he can have a good tournament.

Here's the 5 Aussie matchup in final round of qualies:

Saville vs. Marti - This guy is ranked 250, never played at Wimby qualies before and doesn't have a record on grass, if you want to play anybody in the final round of qualies, this is it. I don't rate Saville but holy crap this is a huge opportunity, don't f*** it up
Duckworth vs. Fischer - Ranked 175, has qualified a couple of times for Wimby so can play on the stuff. Tough but he should be good enough to do it.
Bolt vs. Kravchuk - A 29 year old journeyman ranked 215, again an amazing final round qualies draw. Bolt has had a good year, didn't think he was up to this standard yet but you have to give him a chance here.
Groth vs. Bolelli - If I want anyone to qualify, it's Sam, only player I could see winning a couple of rounds but this is probably the toughest matchup, beat Sam in final round of qualies and will certainly have Sam matched at the back of the court, a great serving day required from Sam
Barty vs. Kontaevit - I don't know about this player but supposedly had a good year. Would be nice to see Ash qualify for ehre, would give ehr confidence for the rest of the year.
