Surely not. You can easily watch sunrise in SD...if you're stupid enough to watch that tripe. Sport, especially tennis, is shit to watch in SD

In his interview, Isner suggested a tiebreak at 12-12. Anderson also calling for a TB. I’d be surprised if it doesn’t happen sooner rather than later. I’d also hope that the US Open extends to 12-12.

I’m sure there was resistance when tiebreaks first came in to replace advantage sets prior to the last set.

Rapt that Anderson got through, laughed when I saw the score. On checking the Wimbledon 2018 wikipedia page, it looked like 6 sets 2-2 6-4 on first glance. Even as a tennis fanatic for decades, that 5th set scoreline in a SF is unparalleled.

Nadal Djoker is great quality, hopefully resumes by 9pm our time (giving them minimum 12 hours). That 3rd set tiebreak had lots of classic points, and felt so important given the probable toll on Anderson following his last 2 matches (as well as being an underdog for the final).

Novak seemed like he was on the ropes there but hanging on bravely.
I almost forgot how good he was so it was great to see him almost back to his best.

I will say for the 100th time what an amazing era of tennis I have lived in.:thumbsu:

Anderson will be cooked for the final, would have been a tough task for him anyways but now he will easily lose the final in straight sets. Personally I think they should have 5th set tie breakers at all slams.

Anderson will be happy that Nadal and Novak will presume play tomorrow

Would laugh if he repeated this 5th set epic a third time in the final, taking the match deep into the World Cup final.

I personally like the 5th set as is, growing up with some of those classics like the turn of the millennium Wimbledon epics and Roddick-El Aynaoui, but certainly recognise the counter argument, which this match clearly informs. 12-10 then tiebreak is a good option, maybe could be trialed in QFs and SFs (especially at Wimbledon which is prone to this and more of a day slam).

Channel7 said the game/the coverage begin at 10pm our time so imagine if this also goes into 5 sets.

I'd be tempted to move the women's final to a slightly earlier time, and put the men's match after (especially given that Anderson will be rooted anyway). But Serena-Kerber is liable to go 2-3 hours. And the men need at least 12 hours, if not more, particularly at a SF stage of a slam.

Djokovic could come out and 6-2 it. They might just have to start Djokovic-Nadal on the other court (after all, Isner-Mahut moved around various courts from memory, among others).

The last few days yet again shows up the inequity between men’s and women’s tennis and how ridiculous equal prize money is. Kevin Anderson has played almost 11 hours in his last 2 matches. Nadal and Djokovic has to wait in the locker room most of the day then had to stop because of the curfew, now have to continue on the Saturday.

BUT BUT BUT people are complaining that the women’s final may not start at the original scheduled time! The women put in **** all effort compared to the men, unjustifiably get equal pay AND can play doubles to earn further income, BUT they seem to think they have something to complain about.

I wish there were male tennis players that would raise the issue of how unfair the tour is for men and keep mentioning it until the imbalance is addressed.

Women, shut up, you have it ridiculously good.

I was just reading an article that compared the amount of hours Kevin has played compared to Serena. She has played least 8 hours on court whereas Kevin v John just played 6 hr 38mins in the semis.

Serena Williams’ six-match march to the Wimbledon finals has taken 8hrs, 18mins.

The tour????

It's only happens at shared events, where they share the spotlight. Just think of the scheduling issues if they all played bo5. Far more likely that men change than the girls in this age

There is a thread on this and it is a discussion long treaded. Lets just say I disagree with you because we are not going to agree ever.

Lleyton Hewitt summed this argument up a few years ago in an old interview. 'The unique thing about tennis (referring to Davis Cup & GS matches) is that the match is never over until your opponent wins the required games and points'. Its also a true test of absolute marathon performance and mental and physical toughness.

It’s not about equal pay it’s about importance. Sorry but the women’s final should take clear priority over the men’s semi final, even if it may be lesser quality and a shorter duration. They should not have that match delayed or moved just because two men in a semi final couldn’t finish their match in time. And then they say they wouldn’t move the men’s final under any circumstance.

I’m not a fan of the equal pay argument from the women but in this case the AEC is being blatantly sexist.

Have to agree. Tie-Breaks have contributed to the rise of the big server. The 5th set means you might get there on your serve but you need more to win

Tiebreakers at 6-6 in fifth sets are yuck. No thanks.

Would not be against it going to a tiebreak at, say, 15-15 or 20-20, though. Let's not kill the innumerate 12-10 etc fifth set classics because of an extremely small number of servebot monstrosities.

Havent even thought about the serve factor. But it could be a nasty factor of if they made this change. You'd have juniors putting more time into their serve than other facets of the game.
