McEnroe was far worse, Cash should know that. As for Steph, I don’t think Kyrgios has even gone so slow as to aim smashes at his opponent a few times in a match. Or smack a spectator in the head …or of course try and seek continual coaching from his father in the stands. An astonishing hypocrite young Steph.

Plus you get a journo like Gideon Haigh slagging off Kyrgios but being sympathetic to cheats like Steve Smith and Warner ..what a joke

Lets not forget Steph's 15 minute dunny breaks to stop momentum all the time

Huge night for Australian Tennis.

It's the first time we've had four Aussies go this far at Wimbledon since 1999. That year's Wimbledon just so happens to be my all-time favourite tournament.

After Rafter won consecutive US Open tournaments in '97 and '98, my interest in Tennis spiked significantly. The 1999 season started well for us with Scud and Dokic winning the Hopman Cup. We had two Aussie men ranked inside the top ten (Rafter and Philippoussis), and we were witnessing the rise of a future Australian star (Hewitt) who had taken a couple of scalps. We also had solid players in Andrew Ilie, Jason Stolenberg, Richard Fromberg and Wayne Arthurs. Throw in the best doubles team in the world at the time, and it's not hard to see why we were regularly going deep in Davis Cup tournaments.

Our Wimbledon campaign got off to a flier when Jelena Dokic (as a qualifier) defeated Martina Hingis 6-2, 6-0 in what is still one of the greatest upsets in Wimbledon history. To put it in perspective, Hingis was the world number one, she had won that year's Australian Open, lost to Graf in the Final of Roland Garros, and she had made it through to at least the SF in the previous 11 Grand Slams. It was an amazing result for the 16-year-old and it remains the only time a world number one has lost to a qualifier at Wimbledon. Dokic would go on to make it through to the QF. Outstanding achievement.

Speaking of Australian qualifiers, Wayne Arthurs won his three qualifying matches without dropping serve once. What isn't well known is in his first three rounds of Wimbledon, the score lines were quite remarkable. Every single set he played in his first three rounds produced at least 12 service games. In fact, in the ten sets he played in those three matches, eight of them went to a Tiebreak. Arthurs advanced through to the fourth round without dropping his serve once. He came up against Agassi in the fourth round and he put up a huge fight. Arthurs failed to lose his serve until the third set (the first two sets went to tiebreaks) and he eventually lost in four.

The most disappointing moment for Australia is when Philippoussis had to retire injured in his QF match against world number one and five time champion Pete Sampras. The Scud had taken the opening set, and with players on serve in the second set, a knee injury forced him to retire. The match was very evenly poised and could have gone either way.

Rafter, being our best hope, reached the SF and went out to Agassi in straight sets.

A bit of a quirk with the rankings system is Sampras defeated Agassi in the final, yet Agassi overtook Sampras as the world number one.

The tournament would later become famous for it being the first Wimbledon that Federer and Hewitt competed in.

Anyway, I see barty’s tennis rated ok despite our Nick‘s being less than enamoured of it. ( to be fair think he likes watching the games he is in, so all good,)

It is exciting. Any chance we can do a quick electro shock treatment for Nickky before he heads out on court?

Kyrgios must've had alot of childhood trauma. Hopefully his dad can answer that for him?

Anyway...I feel everybody is missing the vibe that Barty party brought to World tennis.
Hopefully she can get off her butt and achieve something productive with her life.

I doubt he was taught any discipline as a child. Disappointing he can't show any professionalism on court.

Barty was playing in some celebrity golf tournament in ny.

Gosh Ostapenko is a sore loser. I'm happy she is out of the tournament. With regards to end of matches handshakes the woment are the worse offenders, they just slap each other prime example is Sablenka she is another sore loser.

Might be tough for Nick if he does have to play Alex. He'll probably feel pressure to be less of an obnoxious campaigner if he's up against someone he seems to be mates with
