Like them for a minute.

They're pretty s h i t players and that singer is a nerd,in fact they're all nerds.

I've been in the states for 3 months and i dont think they've actually made much of a dent.

Been receiving a stack of support from VH1 and Kroq but dont seem to have the runs on the board yet.

Thoughts ?

Wolfmother and Jet should rack off back to the 70's.

Absolute anus of a band.

Jet's 1st album - some of it was actually good, wasn't it titled exile back in black? Jet's new one Sgt Cesters High Voltage and Sticky Fingers new single is crap, Wolfmother are unoriginal and a poor ****take of the Zep boys and the Sabbath.

They are like the Knack - really listen intensly for a month and then get bored. THis is the trouble with being so derivative - you tend to go back to the original and superior source material

Yeah,pretty much agree.
Thrashed out the album when it first came out & saw them live which was great. But have hardly played it since!
Guess we will see what their next album delivers..

Speaking of The Knack, good news for the lead singer who has made a successful recovery recently

Picked up a great DVD called "rock and roll funhouse" for $10 which is just a studio live recording of the Knack done in 2002 - lead singer and lead guitarist are the same but new drummer and bass - the version they do of "Oh Tara" on that is great.

They've been overhyped, at first, I thought they were great, but now I find it a bit boring. Jet has only one song that I like- 'Take It Or Leave It', that was the 1st Jet song I heard, the rest are rubbish. If we're going to talk overhyped bands, we could start off with The Arctic Monkeys...............

I liked the EP, but the sound quality of the album is so appalling that I can't listen to it (not to mention that they re-recorded all of the EP tracks and made them incredibly lame)

never liked them for one second, much too hyped about and overplayed and i dont have much respect for them because most of their skills and the way they present themselves in video clips and performances etc has all been done many times before. especially the guitar movements and such i wonder who that came from....they were ok before the australia exploded and started going on about them way too much...but this happens alot with any decent band these days i guess but meh..just one persons opinion.

Love Wolfmother. Although, only recentlly turn 18, the bands you make claims that they are ripping off i havent heard a great deal of. like 80% of their album.

Jet I never got huge into but coincidentally enough downloaded their old album last nite and forgot how good it was..

I am the target audience of both bands tho so take from that what you want.

I'm pretty close to that. Flogged the EP and then gave the album a good spin but overall it's gone missing from my collection. But still look forward to seeing them live again as they were very enjoyable last time.

I wish I could rack off back to the 70's.

If we were 35 years ago back in those days we'd be seeing the rise of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, Enjoying the finest of the Doors and the Stones, getting ready for the start of the Queen era and the allmighty Eagles, and reminiscing over the end of the Beatles and Hendrix.

And we'd still have bands like ACDC, Cold Chisel, Aerosmith, INXS, Guns n Roses etc,. to look forward too.....

Bands like Jet and Wolfmother would just be average acts.

Instead now they're the "best" (at least commercially anyway) we have in rock and roll......

very interesting. ill bet most of their fans wouldnt know a led zep record if it decapitated them, and they would mostly think black sabbath was just some band that silly geezer off the osbournes was in when their parents were kids.

bands like wolfmother shold be paying these classic 70's bands royalties for being such blatant rip offs of their sound. at least a band like 'the music' who are also clearly inspired by certain bands have mixed it up into a sound that is distinctly their own.

You've listed international bands from the past, and only australian bands from the present.
Now, you could compare present bands, such as U2 as to whats on offer now. Me personally - I wouldn't. I don't like them at all. But they compete in terms of success with most of those bands.

point is. Jet/Wolfmother certainly aren't the best in rock and roll - presently.

Everyone has there own opinion, and I'll agree that the music industry certainly isn't ideal. I don't like Hip Hop/rap/RnB and all that sorta stuff. I don't like dance/house/techno and all that sorta stuff.

However, I'm able to find many bands that I do love.

Look at someone living in 2006 who is late teens, young 20s. We're can't gather exposure to the bands which you've listed without buying their CDs. Thats a big risk as we don't have much money. They're PROBABLY on the radio - gold 104? maybe? but how much rubbish would we need to sift through to find these bands?

Bands which I am loving at the minute, The Strokes/Arctic Monkeys/Muse etc. I have been exposed to through accessible means. But I don't have the coin to go and buy a velvet underground cd because the strokes have been heavily influenced by them.

***i did once flick on tripple m and was captivated by rolling stones-angie, talked to mum about it (calling the song angel) and she was able to put me onto goats head soup, which I did enjoy.

Don't mind the 'Mother, there are sh*tloads worse artists around. Have the album, it's undoubtedly too derivative, but it's well written, well played and produced Rock music. And with the proliferation of utterly plastic, vacuous pop 'artists' going around, they're a breathe of fresh on the charts atm...
