A bit puzzled by today's choice.
Wordle 808 3/6. Looked into it, and it is has a meaning (USA) we don't attach to it here. ( quelle surprise!)
At least, I never heard it used like that. Otherwise, it's a proper noun.

yeah I know what you mean. I think only options were lyric and birch after guess 3 and that’s one reason I would do lyric every day of the week and am not annoyed that I went the wrong way

A lucky guess from the letters I had.
it's a type of tree like oak, pine or gum
started with R and I
It's a noun not a proper noun. The same as car or yacht.Yes, exactly as a 'type of tree' it is illegal because that is a proper noun! You can't have those. It is only legal because in the USA they have a different use for it as a word. It is used as a word like we would use rhw word strap or belt ( to hit someone!) As in "He gave him a birch." Not as in tree. Do you see?
It's not a proper noun. You are wrong. It's why it's not capitalised. Just like pine, oak etcNo. It is a type! Not the source. And be careful of spoilers!

A proper noun is a noun that serves as the name for a specific place, person, or thing. To distinguish them from common nouns, proper nouns are always capitalized in English. Proper nouns include personal names, place names, names of companies and organizations, and the titles of books, films, songs, and other media.Yes, exactly as a 'type of tree' it is illegal because that is a proper noun! Today's word is a common noun.
Your example in the above post 340 is WRONG, I'm afraid - types of trees aren't proper nouns, they aren't capitalised.
Edit: sorry, just got home and didn't read far enough. Not having a go at you myblueroan . Just clarifying, although I see others have too.

From a website called meritnation.com I asked google if the word was a Proper Noun and it came up. I remember being taught this way. So much controversy. It's why I love words!Common Noun - story, bird, trees, wing, winter, forest, acorns, .... Proper Noun - birch, oak, willow, spruce, pine, juniper, North Wind, Frost King, ...19 Apr 2020
