Just curious out there what people think when it comes to work.

What is your preferred work method.

Option 1-Working your ass off for your bosses/ companys respect- being seen as a suck up w**ker and not having respect from work mates but your futures looking bright since that's what your there for.

or

Option 2-being laid back and fitting in with work mates- not trying as hard even though you know you could do better.

Just saying because as of late I feel I'm headed towards option 1 at work and its doing alright for me career wise, but I do feel like a w***er sometimes and I can see it in workmates that I'm working too hard, which annoys the shit out of me.

They are the only options? You can't work hard and have the respect of your workmates?

option 3 doesn't apply because I work for a company that's contract based.

funny, it's the only job I've had where you get shit for working hard.

and that's what it's like through the entire company.
everyday I see so many milk it, for all it's worth.

I won't mention who I work for, but yeah never had anything like it.

Option 2
I can't really go any further up the chain unless I become an Uber Manager Flog.

Plus would have to stay OS & am really starting to want to come back to Aus

The place where I work has a brilliant culture of hard work being 'cool', and the slackers are quickly eliminated. Love it.

I also don't take breaks at work. (Probably illegal) but I get paid the extra half hour for not taking a lunch break, so i'm not complaining.

I've only ever been mates with people at work that have put in or have actually shown some talent at their job. The spuds I don't correspond with unless I absolutely have to. Selfishly speaking they won't get me anywhere.

Judging by your posts on here and the Bay I'm Going to assume that they just think your a dick and are looking for any excuse to keep you out of their circle. :thumbsu:

Work hard to help reduce the load on other people and impress bosses.

Stuff what other people think, I highly doubt friends will supplement me a wage if I'm unemployed.

Job security for the win.

Why would you work for a company where working hard is not respected by colleagues ?

Anyone bludges at our company and they're quickly pulled into line

Doesnt being slack piss off other workmates by kinda leaving work for others to pick up?

One thing i hate is people who are slack and just couldnt care if someone else now has a bit more work to do themselves because others "CBF"

I've found that this year ive been option 1 at school, but a fair few of my mates have taken option 2. I used to be option 2 as well though

At work though, the environment is so different. The people who dont work hard are looked down upon, and the ones who work hard usually gain more respect from everyone else

This. I work hard, my boss appreciates that and in my job, if I do it properly, it takes pressure off most others in the business, which is also appreciated.

I neither work hard, but i don't slack off either. I just work at a comfortable pace and make sure i'm polite and friendly to all the staff (about 50 of them) and guess what? I have a good work life and a excellent rapport with my colleagues. :thumbsu:
