They might go in with that attitude but by half time they'll have realised how average Croatia are and open them up with a bit of Theo lovin'

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:. If it wasnt for all this draw talk I would of put a wad of cash on England but I decided instead to put a even bigger wad of cash on Australia so either way.

Solid performance from England :thumbsu:. Croatia were never in it and should've had 2-3 players sent off instead of just Kovac.

Portugal took the lead at home against Denmark with a Deco penalty after 86', yet the Danes scored twice in injury time, taking a 2-3 win.

Luxemburg won an away match (how often does that happen?), 1-2 in Switzerland.

The Germans draw 3-3 in Finland.

Turkey-Belgium 1-1
France-Serbia 2-1
Iceland-Scotland 1-2

That's about it.

How did Germany concede 3 to Finland. That defence of theirs is a living joke. IF they dont sort it out before the World Cup they will struggle.

Boo France....

FWIW, the red card to Kovac was a little harsh.

He didn't use his elbow as a weapon, moreso used his arm as a tool.

Should've only been a yellow.

Brilliant performance though, well done apollo ;)

I deserve some credit too even if i did sit on the fence and think too much of Joe Coles words. :D

Ahhh that red card was as obvious as they come. Joe Cole was bleeding and subbed off.

You've started up an argument you're going to lose here Embers.

Just because he was bleeding is beside the point, Kovac didn't go into the challenge using his elbow as a weapon.

He lead with his arm - yes, but he was using it as a tool to jump higher. Just so happens he made contact with Joe Coles head WITH his elbow, but he wasn't using it as a weapon.

Trust me, we've held seminars on this and watched a DVD from FIFA about it, with examples. Their instruction is that it should be a yellow card.

I like starting up arguments im going to lose :).

IMO once blood pours out of the head with the cause a elbow the ref should be grabbing for the red card. From where the ref was positioned I can see why he thought what he did. No one ever intentionally elbows someone in the head (unless your Di Canio, Cassano or anyother nutter) but for me the punishment wouldnt of fit the crime if he got a yellow.

Still didnt influence the result. England were carving them up well before them and England were reduced to ten men anyway when they brought on Jermain Jenas as Coles replacement

Yeah but referees don't (well aren't meant to) take into account the injury caused by the tackle.

There was a few intentional elbows on the DVD ;), the De Rossi one on McBride at the 2006 World Cup was a nice one.

Moreso it's if a full swing of the elbow it's seen to be a weapon. It's complicated ;)

Croatia's goal shouldn't have stood though, how that wasn't dangerous play is beyond me.

I know they dont take injury into account but they should. I mean they do for tackles why not elbows.

Probably the ref wasnt looking. He was pretty awful but IMO the red card was the one decision he did get half right

No they don't.

At least they shouldn't be.

A bad tackle is a bad tackle, regardless of whether or not it breaks someones leg. The injury is just unfortunate, but the tackles should be treated no differently.

He was shocking.

Got very few decisions correct all night.

I've never rated Lubos Michel as a referee though, I mean, look at Euro, he sent that player off and then called him back.

Theo Walcott doesn't know what he's just let himself in for.

Bloody Portugal cost me $200 in my multi. How did they concede two 90th minute goals?

 yer joking aren't ya. Next you'll be telling me money grows on trees :D Of course players intentionally elbow other players. CB's and forwards love that stuff :)

I mean like right infront of the ref. Of course there is niggle but as I said theres no real Barry Halls running around atm.

Good ol Australia won me 500 bucks last night. Woot

They shouldnt be but they do is what im getting at. I think the ref kind of decided to change what he was doing after half time and let things that didnt slide in the first half slide.

Me and Apollo got it right. Croatia really arnt that good. They have 2 good players. Luka Modric and Niko Kranjcar. When one of them is out the whole team just surrounds the other good player and gives him nothing. Croatia need Niko back or they may struggle to get out of their group

Like Lowie said, Theo has no idea what he's in for. :D
