Ive heard basically every team say that they're planning on doing something really innovating that's going to help there performance alot (like the psycho batting of the Sir Lankain's openers in 96 & NZ using a Spinner to open the bowling 92) in the upcoming world cup.

My question is: What else can be done? Ive been thinking about this for ages and im stumped. Anyone else got any ideas?

well, the south africans, especially thier captain hansie cronje had earpieces whist on the field so as to recieve messages from the coaching staff..... or was it just weather forecasts??

sorry that was in poor taste. RIP Hansie.

Hmm..

Thinking outside the square.....usually my fortay.

My biggest suggestion would be the 10/1 theory. (Commonly used in many computer games where batting ability affects effectiveness).

Basically, play 10 batsmen, 1 bowler (with hopefully some bowling talent amongst the batsmen).

Bowl first with VERY defensive fields, restricting the opposition to around 300-350.

Go the full-on slog, with 2-3 batsman given absolute licence, 2-3 play normally, and the rest play to score at a run-a-ball.

There's not many sides with the depth to do that however.

Hayden (can bowl)
Langer
Ponting (can bowl)
Martyn (can bowl)
Lehmann (can bowl)
Waugh (can bowl)
Maher
Bevan (can bowl... well sort of)
Love
Clarke (can bowl)
McGrath :D (can't bat)

Everyone play Ryan Campbell shots.

The new batting line-up:

McGrath (keeper)
Gillespie
Lee
Warne/Hogg
Watson
Bevan
Lehmann
Martyn
Ponting
Hayden
Gilchrist

Versatility in your batting and bowling is the key.

The batting order needs to be flexible depending on the situation of the game and you need to have more then 5 bowling options.... at least 2 of the batsmen need to be able to roll their arm over if needed.
