Worst Christmas songs, versions ever.

Last year I posted my all-time favourite Christmas songs.

Well, this year, it got me thinking. I recently discovered a digital radio station which plays Christmas music 24/7 on Elfradio.

Some of the music it plays is very good, but there is some crap as well.Also, they seem to play more crap than good songs.

The most galling thing is how many normally good singers lose their way doing a Christmas song. They hit wrong notes, and sound bad.

With Christmas songs, song choice is key. More than any other song, it shows up who is the best and who is the rest.

So, I thought it would be fun to talk about the absolute worst Christmas songs you have heard. It may be a song, or a particular artist or group's version of a song. For every Bing Crosby Christmas classic, you get Justin Bieber or some other poor singer mangling a beloved festive favourite.

Here are the five biggest stinkers IMO of Christmas songs:-

1. Fairytale Of New York - The Pogues
2. Any Christmas song sung by Bob Dylan
3. 8 Days Of Christmas -Destiny's Child
4.Wonderful Christmastime- Paul McCartney (he should know better)
5. Santa Baby (Santa Buddy)- Michael Buble

Also, any version of "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" sucks. It is just a dodgy song, and when even Bing Crosby can't do a good version of it, it must be a shit Christmas song.

So, what are the absolute worst, turd of Christmas songs ever? Forget good will to all men, let loose with both barrels about crappy Christmas songs, and those who mangle them.

I am having breakfast, listening to Elf Radio in the background as I post this. I am a huge Christmas tragic, all the old songs etc. drives my family and teenage sons crazy
Fairytale is in my top 5 along with Happy Xmas (Lennon), Last Christmas and Winter Wonderland by Dean Martin.
I've never liked Stop The Cavalry by Jona Lewie or Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney.
Sadly, I'm also scanning the TV guides hoping that Love Actually will be on TV sometime in the next couple of weeks
