Worst food/meal?

Worst food I ever had was in France, supposedly the home of fine cuisine. I was on a school trip going to Italy (the real home of great food.) We'd been on a coach for 10 hours and stopped at a youth hostel at the south of France. We were starved but the dish the mad looking lady who ran the place served us up was a cold salad - made entirely from different sorts of beans in a sort of horrible vinaigrette. It was depressing.

I also had the misfortune to eat at The Aberdeen Angus Steak House when dragged there by my brother.

It's not really a meal or food, but the most disgusting thing I have ever seen someone eat is someone elses blood. It takes a bit to make me feel physically sick, but this took the cake. These guys were standing out the front of a wog shop in Carlton at about 4am munching into their souvlakis. One of the guys started hawking and spat up a massive blood gorby - a good mixture of snot, saliva and blood and one that you'd be proud of. His little friend was the kind of bloke who would do anything to make himself seem big, bad and cool, so when a friend of the spitter laughed and said, 'I'll give anyone 50 bucks to lick that up,' the little bloke got down on the ground and slurped it up. Sickening. It just kinda stuck and globluated on the end of his tongue. I didn't want anything to eat after that. I hope the kid got HIV or something.

Those things they eat up in Cairns called sour plums, or salty plums. :thumbsd::thumbsd:

Salty plums are awesome dude. I've always got a packet on the go at work.

You've just gotta be careful of the red ones that stain your lips like you're wearing lipstick or next thing you know you'll find yourself on the hair-straightening thread.

As for the worst thing I've eaten - I did try a couple of maggots once after I decided to copy the hardcore guy off Man vs Wild. But they were only tiny ones, not like the big juicy ones that he ate on the show.

*shudder* I have given them a go on several occasions purely because mates have tried to convince me that they are delicious, despite my own experience with them. Every time i have given them another chance, I have regretted it! I'm off salty plums forever now! :D My mate from Cairns always has a bowl of them in his living room that never empties. Just keeps refilling it, its like the magic pudding of beer snacks.

When 1st moved out as young adult was struggling financially and brought a budget "Black N Gold" Frozen Lasagna.

Decided to eat it one night but knowing it was a crappy budget one thought I would try to fancy it up: i added extra tomato sauce, cheese and... pineapple. Thought I would turn it into Hawaiian Lasanga.

Quite possibly the worst thing I have ever eaten.

In the Seventies there was a phase when everyone was making anything and everything out of soybeans. My mom bought a package of 100 pre frozen soy bean hamburger patties. Horrible things they were. I don't think I enjoyed a hamburger for about two years, and they had been my favourite food.

Boiled Spinach is my least favourite food. Therefore I never eat it.

I ate at the Angus Steak House in London on the Strand in 1987 (I think it was on the Strand anyway). It was pretty good back then. Sad to see something decent go down the tubes like that.

sardines and tomato sauce :thumbsd:

Yum, and very healthy.

When in France last year, I ate an Andouilette (Traditional French Pork Sausage/Cuisine). Ill cut and past because no point retyping. Basically, it smells like shit due to pig bowels, and I guess I know now what shit tastes like.

French andouillette, on the other hand, is an acquired taste and can be an interesting challenge even for adventurous eaters who don’t object to the taste or aroma of feces. It is sometimes eaten cold, as in picnic baskets. Served cold and sliced thinly, the smell, taste, and texture may be mistaken for an andouille [a milder, less stinky sausage], but on closer inspection the texture is considerably more rubbery and the meat has a more feces-like flavor. By contrast, many French eateries serve andouillette as a hot dish, and foreigners have been repulsed by the aroma, to the point where they find it inedible (see external links). While hot andouillette smells of feces, food safety requires that all such matter is removed from the meat before cooking. Feces-like aroma can be attributed to the common use of the pig’s colon (chitterlings) in this sausage, and stems from the same compounds that give feces some of its odors.

Also, dehydrated calamari is ordinary. :thumbsd:
And i ate a grasshopper when in Vietnam, it didnt taste bad but obviously its looks didnt do it any favours.

So while you were up in Cairns you had cause to chow down on some salty plums.

Have you caught the ghey?

Yeh I got through it. Didnt enjoy it. When the flavour and smell got too strong, I covered it in super strength mustard.

I half chucked in my mouth when I had to poo later in the evening. The smell was the same.

1.Shepherds Pie. :thumbsd:

2.One of the worst things in recent memory was a Toasted Sandwich brought from the uni canteen. The ham inside was rancid, the tomato horrible. I almost dry reach just thinking about it.

nah I didnt know what it was. I try and eat something different in region of the country im visiting. The restaurant I visited on this occasion didnt have frogs or snails or anything, so i asked the waitress to bring me something from the region and she suggested the andoilette. I thought id try it. Ive got a strong stomach and can usually overcome smelly foods. This was different.

Plano teen eats fetal pig parts on classmates' dare

Some kids will do anything for money.
Last week at Shepton High School in Plano, a ninth-grader agreed to eat parts of a fetal pig – and not just any parts – for $50.
The second-period biology class was wrapping up a third session on dissection when a couple of students proposed the dare.
"What was I eating?" the boy recalled asking.
Testicles, the students replied.
He gulped them down one at a time, he said, trying not to bite down.
"It was just like swallowing a pill," said the 15-year-old, who is not being identified because of his age. "It wasn't that bad."
School officials, who declined to comment, apparently took a different view, especially because the pigs are soaked in formaldehyde, a toxic chemical used to preserve the tissue.
They called the boy's mother, who couldn't be reached for comment, and a trip to the hospital followed.
"She said, 'How could you be so stupid?' " the boy said.
After the hospital, he said, he went home and brushed his teeth – three times.
He said he collected $40 but owes his mom $100 for the hospital visit.
"It wasn't very smart," the boy said.
