I think it is pretty sweet, opens up a lot of the pages that used to be hard to access. Cricinfo is a really dense site and this opens it up. Watch the walk through if you are bemused by it, it is clear and detailed.

Nobody likes change at first, but I think it's a great improvement. Make's the site look much more sleek and professional.

just had my first look at it. very different.

i reckon it will end up being better, but it will just take getting used too.

IMO cricinfo is the best sports web-site on the internet and the best run so i can't imagine them doing an AFL and changing it for the worst.

one thing i wish companies/organisations would do though when they overhaul web sites is this:

say you can't find an old feature that you used to check regularly. there should be a link to open the web-site in a new window as if it were under the old web-site scheme (with new up to date information). you then navigate through that to the feature that you wish to use. when you find that feature (and for that matter, every page you visit under the old scheme) there should be a button which says "navigate to with new web-site scheme"

at which point when you click that button it would open a pop up window and show you how you would get to that feature or web page you are currently using.

i think if web-sites did this for a 6 week transitional period it would really help their target audience.

i've never seen any web-site do this, and even when a web-site changes it's design for the better, most complaints are simply because peope don't know where to look.

Looks like nobody read the article regarding the cricinfo site upgrade (about a week and a half ago).

I think the site design is pretty lame. Maybe, eventually I'll get used to it. But for now it's in the doldrums.

They're a bit late on the web 2.0 look and surely could have made it much classier. Have a look at the ESPN's Sports Centre site for USA sports. The ease of use is the key and the researching statistics in quick time is probably at the same speed if not slower.

It looks much slicker, but I'm going to have to get used to it.
