At 4:05am this morning, my phone started making sounds, which is strange in itself as my phone is always on silent.

I picked it up, and it was a reminder thing (You know, the ones you can set with an alarm) that said something like "Turn Phone Off" or "Phone Turning Off" (I was half asleep I cant remember exactly) and when I exited the reminder, mhy phone turned itself off. I turned it back on and there was no reminders, notes of that nature on todays date.

My phone then did that again at about 6:45 this morning with the same alarm, turning itself off etc etc.

Now my question is, why the hell did it do that, how the hell did it do that andhas it ever happened to anyone before???

Remember the phone was on silent yet an alarm sound came out, and it turned itself off after reading a reminder that is not saved in the phone......

No the battery isnt flat, and the phone doesnt beep like it did when it is going flat. Im not stupid. I have 2 bars (out of four) as we speak, so its not flat.

No, it wasnt a call, or a txt.. It was a reminder in my phone, but one was never saved.

Alarms and reminders go off even if your phone is on silent

If I go to bed I turn my phone o silent so Im not woken up by any msgs or rining but my alarm rings every morning to wake me up

Vonsche - its a nokia 6101 IIRC

moistie - Do I bury it 6 feet under also and just get rid of it, or will the holy spiritual cleansing do?

From what I've read about that phone is it's a common problem. It seems to like turning itself off whenever it fels like it. Only things I can suggest are either getting in touch with Nokia who will probably tell you there is nothing wrong. Or try asking on a more tech orientated site here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-threads.cfm?f=123&g=132

Reviews tend to vary a bit between being riddled with problems and being fine which tends to make me think it may be the phone itself.

I used to have one of those phones, and it too would turn itself off at random moments. However it never gave me a message or anything.

Similar problem happened to my brothers old phone (also a Nokia, dunno what model), and when he took it in to see about repairing it, they said it was a software problem and the whole system needed reformatting or something like that. Phone was out of warranty though, and it was cheaper to buy a new phone than get that one fixed.

Seeing as I was thinking about getting a new phone anyway, I just did it rather than bother with looking at fixing the old one. Got myself a Nokia 5700. It too occasionally turns itself off (mostly when i've just sent a message) which is really annoying. But its such a damn good phone apart from that so I'm learning to live with it. Doesn't do it that often, and got the extended warranty knowing what happened with previous Nokias. So if it gets bad I'll just get it fixed.
