Adelaide Crows v North Melbourne, Sunday 4.40pm (EST), AAMI Stadium
The Adjudicator says: Dean Laidley has his hands tied. This week at the selection table he'll be struggling to find 22 fit men to take to Adelaide to tackle the Crows. The fact that the game is in the City of Churches isn't helping the big sell mind you. The Roos are a bit like Monty Python's Black Knight. They've been rendered utterly useless by a swathe of injuries but refuse to lie down. The Crows, meanwhile, are starting to play football like it ought to be played. Big blokes up forward encourage them to kick it long. Ben Rutten and Nathan Bock in defence are holding things together. And Scott Thompson, who might want to head back to Melbourne at season's end, is a star. The home team will deliver a fatal blow to North's season but not before a fight.

WTF???? Since when??

WTF???? Since when??

Most of the east coast journos would not know S**t from clay when it comes to any knowledge of SA based players. My guess is that whoever the knob is that wrote this piece, assumes that Thompson was originally from Victoria because he previously played for Melbourne. A journalist in one of the Melbourne rags (I think it may have been The Age) made a reference earlier in the week that Taylor Walker was a former NSW scholarship player from Sydney. Last time I looked Broken Hill (although its just into NSW) was a long way from Sydney, and in fact is closer to Adelaide than Sin City.

And Broken Hill tends to treat itself as quasi-South Australian (most Adelaide news services include Broken Hill in their regional forecasts for example) as well.

As for Thompson allegedly wanting to return to Melbourne - why? Doesn't make any sense to me.

no,no,no....he's talking about Scott D Thompson from the Kangaroos! He's gonna love it here so much that he's gonna stay here after the game, for the rest of the season, and then go back!;)

What an absurdly random rumour.

I can't think of anyone on our list less likely to "return" to Melbourne.
It's not that random. It has been reported here on BF a few times in the past (07 or 08) that his better half wanted to return home to Bleak City. Nothing came of the rumour back then and I expect precisely the same result this time around.

...to get married, but they're coming back! Thompson and his missus are currently building a house in Adelaide - not something you'd do if you're planning on moving interstate in a few months.

Well I don't actually know if they're getting married in Melbourne - but I'm assuming she's from Melb (unless they've been together since before he was an AFL player), and since the bride picks where to get married, she'll want to "go home" and get married.

But why choose Melbourne. They have anywhere from The church in North Adelaide to the beaches of Western Australia with a sunset off the horizon to the beaches of Vanuatu and beyond to choose from.

And another one slips through Symesy15's clutches .............. :)

I was speaking to an official from Sth Adelaide today, the big rumour is Graham Johncock to Melbourne next year. He also reckons McKernan will be a damn good player and Cook will be very, very lucky to make it as an AFL footballer. He also said Otten is going to be a very good footballer, really down to earth guy and very commited, a real good bloke.:thumbsu:

As for Thompson, the sooner they give him the captaincy the better.
