Yep. As the old saying goes 'nobody hates wrestling more than wrestling fans'.

Don't get the issue with the tournament either. The "if I can't beat you, I can't continue" has already been done before.

If blood is required to get a match over, talent aren't doing their job properly. Should be reserved for high profile personal feuds sparingly. Blood for this match would have been incredibly lazy.

Fans paying 5 figures for tickets don't love wrestling?! The fact fans feel need to defend bad booking demonstrates fans love wrestling beyond reason.

Blood would've got match over. Would've shown Cena didn't meekly quit. Finish clearly didn't get over.

He didn't meekly quit though. He fought it for ages, eventually realised he was fighting a losing battle so he let go and happily sailed off into the sunset. Nothing wrong with the booking. Cena gains nothing from winning, Gunther gains nothing from Cena winning.

According to WON, HHH and Tony Khan deliberately made the call to send Randy to Saudi as they didn't believe him attending would add value business wise and wanted the night to be purely about Cena, not past rivalries...

I'm sure Cena would have appreciated having one of his closest friends there for his retirement match...
Nick Khan. 🤣

While the crowd chanting 'you f'd up' was a bit on the nose, don't have a massive problem with the crowd booing post match. Was genuine heat and got the desired reaction.

Last 18 months ~ since WM40 has been pretty underwhelming booking wise outside of Punk/Drew. WM41 was a massive letdown, especially the main event and both world title matches.

That loss to Jey tapping made no sense at the time and made no sense now.

To have Cena turn face, and have some losses that mean something (don't think anyone will remember Theory beating him) and then turbo boost Gunther into being getting mega heat is a solid turnaround.

Just hope they capitalise on it. Can see Gunther being the Rumble winner and dethroning Cody.
The problem I have it is the heat wasnt directed at Gunther in any way. It was people pissed off and laying the blame on triple h so they hijacked the post match which should have been about Cena.
Tomorrow is where we will get the Gunther heat.

Instead of cheering Cena off after giving 23 yrs of his life to the business, they decided to boo someone who wasn't in the match and potentially ruin the moment for Cena.

Anyone with more than 3 braincells knew cena was going out on his back, he's old school. And we've known it was happening for months. The idiots online trying to compare it to Stings retirement as if they're even remotely related, and with no information saying triple h over ruled cena and personally booked the match, not the match production team.
The WWE fan base have become unbearable this year, so fickle.
Something good happens booking wise and it's congratulations random guy back stage who barely anyone knows even works there. As soon as something bad happens it's "**** you triple h, we want Vince back".
The booking deserves to be called out, but it's an entire team that is ****ing up, targeting one person isn't helpful.

I don't even like the guy, was always one of my least favourite wrestlers and he has done some awful shit, and even I think the response is ridiculous. Hell, I always found Cena boring and often tuned out of his matches, but I find the hijacking of the post-match hugely disrespectful and feel sorry for him.

Too many crowds now feel like they're the main star and need to make everything about them. Even down to the stupid giant head cut outs ruining iconic shots and moments. Noone wants to look at your/your kids/your dogs ugly mug for a 3hr ppv.

Yeah I generally get what you're saying. The booing of HHH wasn't the time to pay out on him. Of all the things to criticise him for, that wasn't it.

Definitely a sense of entitlement to the people that showed up last night. I don't think it was an massive deal though and illustrated how disappointed were with Cena losing. Just was horribly misdirected in the end.

I think most of us here (not all) are pretty level headed folk and can praise stuff without showing blind loyalty, and conversely also not completely rag on any product to the point of questioning why we're still watching it.

I don't think Reddit/X/FB are representative of the average fan. I also don't think the hardcore 5k ticket purchasers to the big time events in areas like this are either.

99% of the time people will be ragging on shit for no other point other than to rile up another fan base, or because they're plain miserable campaigners. It's a shame that wrestling is discussed like politics these days.

And yeah that giant face cardboard cutouts are peak cringe. That footage of Punk clutching his jacket thinking of Larry is somewhat distracted by that neck beard flog in the entrance. Generally with those signs not only are you being a self indulgent flog, you're blocking someone's view too.

Lol, fans pay a lot of money to watch these shows live. They have every right to react anyway they want. If something isn't compelling the idea that wrestling fans shouldn't display their displeasure is hilarious.

Didn't work for the live crowd.

Wrestling is a performance art which exists to only entertain fans. So yeah, it is all about the fans. Unless show is just being booked as therapeutic art for hhh it's open to critique.

HHH is the public face of the WWE and the booking, and as such takes all the credit when things are going well. So inversely he can cop the abuse for the things that aren't good.

+1 for hating these. should be confiscated.

Except for the bit where he doesn't generally get praised when things are going good.
It magically becomes "Producer X is doing so well with this part of the show".
It's inconsistent.

Just had a blog pop up on youtube of someone who paid for front row/ramp seats who said someone held up a massive sign with nonsense written on it in front of his face the entire night. And when that person didn't have it up, his mate was holding a title up in his eyeline.

Wild that people can spend thousands and have their enjoyment ruined by a person with no respect for others.

he's publicising the crowd numbers, drawing power etc, so that's the taking the credit part.

I know Fightful publish a lot of times who produced which match, but none of that sticks with me. If you named one of the high profile/great matches of recent times (let's use Punk/McIntyre HIAC as an example) and asked me "who produced this?", honestly I couldn't tell you.

if you were directly behind them, they would be copping a punch to the head and a word from security

He at least got Cena's last ever high five of his career, so there was at least one positive.

just read they're taping portions of SD tomorrow before/after RAW, so keep that in mind if you would like to avoid spoilers this week.

EDIT: Fightful is saying it's SD for the 26th Dec, not this weeks. bit confusing but sounds logical given it's Xmas time..

and they're doing this weeks SD on Friday and taping next weeks RAW too.

Agreed. I found the finish flat but didn't have an issue with Gunther winning. Found crowd reaction a tad odd/strong but if that's how they feel then fair enough. Also not sure about what the talk is about here regarding 'internet fans' when it was those in the building who were most hostile at the finish. Further to this, HHH less likely to get booed if he's stop needlessly putting himself out there all the time (as well as not putting on such a shit boring, lazy and increasingly nonsensical product). If you're going to do that and have shows like 'Unreal', etc then you're possibly going to be in the firing line.

Random WWE Raw thoughts:

Gunther absolutely soaking in those boos. True old school heel.
AJ vs Gunther feud next? I'm into it.

Tesetore's complete refusal to say the word 'bitch' lol.

New Day instantly back to faces in my mind for interrupting the run back.
Jimmy dying inside again having to yeet.

Ivy Nile looks like a mini Nattie without the boxer braids.
Maxxine looks like she has been doing some legit training, noted a few BJJ passes and transitions.
Headscissor piledriver was cool too. Modified fisherman suplex was silky.
Felt sorry for both girls, crowd had less than zero interest in most of the match.

Pete Dunnericano vs Evans next week should be fun.

Gasp Theory was the masked man? No way, wouldn't have guessed.
Feel for Waller, Theory gets injured and he's the one that's given the bigger push.

Sidenote: Netflix adds a shit new function, when the broadcast is in a 'break' the seek bar disappears meaning you can't fast forward or pan through the recording any more.
What a joke. It's a prerecorded fake fighting show, you're not gaining anything by preventing me from skipping through to parts I want to watch.
