The best performance tonight was from Ed Sheeran...seriously, how awesome is he?

After seeing how the public voted tonight, I realised that Jason is too good for The X Factor and doesn't need it. The fact that Jason left before Caitlyn/Marlisa/etc is nothing short of embarrassing; if the voting public can't appreciate his talent/experience/spirit, then quite frankly, they don't deserve it. I wouldn't be surprised if Foo takes him back to America after the show and produces his music for him :-)

At this stage the only ones I see getting a proper shot at it after the show are:

Reigan, Jason, Dean & Brothers 3.

This has more to do with how they perform on the iTunes chart. Nat was right to a degree.

An act like Marlissa or Caitlyn can get a lot of votes through one individual voting upwards of 100+ times a week, but they don’t always perform well when it comes to getting people to buy the song they are singing. Isn’t that the whole point?

Acts like Reigan, Jason, Dean & Brothers 3 all feature in the top 20-30 on iTunes for a few days. I also think each of them have probably had a song reach the top 5. They may get votes, but people are prepared to spend money on buying their music. Looking at the charts I can’t say the same for Marlissa & Caitlyn. At the end of the day a person may ‘vote’ for them 500+ times a week but will they buy a big quantity of the music they make?

I realise the costs are vastly different and buying music is more expensive then voting but looking at it from all angles it doesn’t look so good for Caitlyn and Marlissa in life after the show.

I realise there is always the exception.

For me I could always tell that Samantha jade was a pop princess. Did anyone else get that vibe from her too? But with Reigan I still don't know who she is or who she wants to be as a performer? The other contestants may not be vocally strong as her but they have confidence in who they are as performers and always put their own spin on the songs they are given. Except Marlisa cos she's only 14.

That’d be partly down to Redfoo though, he’s the one making the song choices. Though I believe Reigan should have some input.

It is a popularity contest. Most of these people who vote get caught up in the excitement of fandom but post X factor I don't know if they continue to support their idol. Except bombers we all know he's going to buy 20 copies of Caitlyn's album lol.

I have always said and I still stand by it that song choice does not and should not matter because a true artist can reinterpret the chosen song and give it their own spin and make it their own. I always think of jiordon tully because she was excellent at doing that.

I agree, and Danni was right last night. We still don't know what type of artist Reigan will be. Maybe, we should blame Redfoo and the styling?

And, yes, Samantha Jade was always a pop princess but needed that extra edge. Guy was a good mentor for her, and Mel B's honest feedback got her there in the end.

As for Caitlyn - I think the show and Ronan have ruined her. They continue to pick the wrong songs for her, and the staging is all wrong for her. For eg, that Paramore performance was a mess.

B3 - Danni has no idea how to mentor these guys.

Oh look, I agree with that mostly, but I’m just putting it out there as some mentors seem to cop it for their song choices.

Yes guy is an excellent mentor because he has been there before and has outlasted the reality tv curse and is very successful.

Mel is good with her honest feedback. No sugar coating. How can u become a better performer if no one gives u an honest critique. Man I miss both of them.

Not sure how Nat has lasted this long. I fear Dean winning or finisging top 2 will get her an extra year if she wants it.

I didn't mind Danni at the start, going off her now. I really like Foo now, I don't know why, he use to drive me crazy.
