I'm probably not the best to argue a point with you, as I don't watch those two versions, but I'd find it hard to entertain the idea that Reece wouldn't be a contender in those versions. Surely he at least makes the top 12 in both of those versions. I'd be staggered if there were up to twelve from both series combined who are better than Reece.

But as mentioned, I haven't watched those versions, so I don't really know.

What I do know is that Leona Lewis, who won the UK version about 4-5 years ago, sung Whitney Houston's Will Always Love You in one of her performances. It was a very good performance... but Tara-Lynn Shammock, who also performed that song during the auditions of this year's Australian X Factor, out performed Leona Lewis, IMO... and that was only an audition.

If Tara-Lynn had have got her VISA sorted, I think it would be extremely close between her and Reece.

So, yeah, I struggle to see how Reece would not at least be a contender in the UK X Factor, considering I would think he would be close to equal to Leona Lewis.

Lets be honest. In 5 years time I will be very very surprised if people know who Reece Mastin is. I like him but he wouldn't have made either live show. It's only natural though as UK and US have much bigger populations, and lets be honest, UK/US is where the superstars of the music industry come from. Should get on the UK/US shows for sure, some very good talent there, US especially, alot better than what American Idol has produced in the last few years anyway.

Here's a few from the US for example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ3MF5PSTfw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYPTS_39I8g

Brian Bradley will be signed up no matter what I think, the kid will be a star.

X factor Australia is pretty shit. Am watching the UK and US versions and they are amazing. Not 1 act from our X factor would get on either US or UK versions-serious.

Really? Have seen a bit of the UK performances on Youtube and there have been some awful performances.

The only really good performance I saw was the Irish girl singing Coldplay.

I don't think she's that good?

Anyway:

Week six power rankings

1) Reece
Performed a classic Wolf Mother song and did another great job, although it was actually one of his weakest performances. That's the problem when you are consistently brilliant, week in and week out. A great performance will be criticised because it wasn't brilliant like usual.

2) Three Wishez
Performed John Farnham's You're The Voice. Another great performance from them. I was wrapped to see Joseph introduce the song for once. He actually does have a good voice. I couldn't have been happier for them as a group. Again, Freddie's genius showed in the rap lyrics he wrote. "We're not gonna live in silence," is sung Sophia and Joseph, and then Freddie raps "no silence", then "we're not gonna live in fear", as Freddie manages to rhyme silence with violence, as he raps "no violence" after his "no silence" line. Thought that was very creative and cool. Their costumes, all in white - awesome. Great look. And Sophia, damn that girl has style. Great voice, great body. Sexy.

3) Christina
Performed Killing Heidi's Weir. I didn't mind the song choice, despite the judges comments. The judges thought she was well below her best. I thought she was very close to her best. I'll tell you how she can actually win this thing, and what lets her down. It's her seemingly inability to find consistency. Every performance she has given has had a few off notes, and the judges finally decided to pick up on it tonight. Sure, I understand it's difficult to maintain consistency when you're bouncing up and down on the stage, running around and increasing your heart rate to 140 bpm. But it shouldn't be that difficult for a superstar, and unfortunately for her to win X Factor you should really be a superstar, or close to it. She can train to improve her breathing to maintain consistency in her notes, and the good news for her is she is only sixteen, so she has years to learn this craft. Now I have got that out of the way, this is why she can win it. She is a great all round performer, great voice and great stage movement. She always gets the audience involved. She's extremely mature for her age. And importantly she has a great look, which always helps. About that, though, way too much make up tonight. Eye shadow stood out too much. Actually make her look less attractive.

4) Andrew
Performed Cold Chisel's Flame Trees and did another great job. What I like about Andrew is his incredible level of consistency. Every week he delivers such a consistent performance. If I'm paying money to see him perform, I know I will never be disappointed, and that is extremely important. Also, his facial hair suits him, and hopefully is there to stay.

5) Declan
Performed a Crowded House classic, and did a good job. One of his best performances. I actually think he would be better off as a lead singer in a band. Michael Buble has had a successful career with a unique voice, so there's no reason why Declan couldn't be a successful solo artist too... but let's be honest, he's nowhere near as good as Buble. I thought his ending to his performance tonight was excellent too.

6) Mitchell
Performed Hunters and Collectors' Throw Yours Arms Around Me, and delivered another consistent performance. Nothing really negative to say about his performance. I found it strange how Ronan contradicted himself, though. In the lead up to the song, Ronan was accusing Nat for giving him such a bad song choice. Then after the song, Ronan told him the song choice was great.

7) Johnny
Performed Delta Goodrem's Lost Without You. His vocals again suffered, and his red jacket was ordinary to say the least, but I don't want to be all negative. If I watched his performance with the sound on mute, honestly I would rate it as the best performance of the night. The dedication and passion he showed was quite phenomenal. Emotionally, he connected with his audience and I believed everything he was singing.

Here's how I rank this weeks performances:

Reece
Andrew

(daylight)

Johnny
Three Wishez
Mitchell

Bottom 2:
Christina
Declan

Having Johnny anywhere else other than last makes me think that you are tone deaf or a 15 year old girl.

He is just awful.

Really liked Andrew's performance. A few weeks ago I wanted him gone, so he's gone up in my opinion.

Just as a sidenote, isn't Crowded House a NZ band?

This x1000000. He is just ridiculously bad. I know several people who can sing better than him. How the **** he got this far astounds me.

Might as well just finish the competition now. Reece will win. Andrew will come 2nd, imo. He has really gotten a lot better.

Three Wishez had another good performance this week. I wasn't looking forward to it before it started, because of the song choice, but I was very surprised after it. Great work by them.

Declan's unique voice and tone makes him sound like shit IMO. He sings okay in parts when he sings normally but nothing special. The fact someone like Johnny Ruffo who can't sing is still in the competition is pretty funny. Teen girls with their mobile phones I guess.

From what I've seen Reece will win but he's not as good as he's being pumped up as. I guess the judges have to pump up the best talent on the show but can see him disappearing off the radar not too long after the show and not selling many records. Just watched a few YouTube videos of X Factor US and agree with a posts before that a fair few of those talents blow anything in our version out of the water.

so Mel B "chose" killing heidi's weir for christina to sing? I bet she has probably never heard that song before. Most likely the record companies have a catalogue that is given to these singing reality shows to work with (licensing issues?) which is why mel b/christina had to work with what was given to them.
but seriously just hand the whole thing over to reece. he is miles ahead of the rest now with only Andrew as the real challenger.

Dont even like singing shows anymore. I mean how many actually go on and be successful, im talking about Australians here as well. Its either they cant handle it, they turn out to be a dud, fame goes to their head. Guy is getting shown up that he isint capable to be a judge yet.

Johnny pulled out the big gun tonight, have to admit he wasn't too bad. Doesn't quite get the words out sometimes, but had the right moves and voice was similar to jacks.

Just switched over to the end...........gee the audience is painful. There was about 3 or 4 girls (the same ones) screaming all the way through that. I couldnt imagine how annoying they were to the judges and the people around them.

God ****ing damnit! So close to getting rid of Johnny again. It's painful. Every week he is bloody terrible, yet he gets through. As soon as it got through to deadlock you knew Johnny would get through.

This is farcical.

Never compare Johnny to Michael Jackson. Ever. You can hardly ever hear Johnny, and he tries to make up for it by dancing.

Reece has this comp won already. Truly the most obvious talent show in reality TV show history.

I'm almost hoping they rig the bottom two voters to put Reece up (and then put him through) as otherwise this series has no substance/spice whatsoever.

Another thing I hate about the audience is they boo the judges every time they make a criticism regardless of whether it's constructive criticism or the judge going on an ego trip. It's like they're booing for the sake of booing.

If you end up in the bottom 2 long enough eventually you run out of luck - Jacqui in the first three weeks an example of this.
