Anyone see the story on Sunday Night (the channel seven show) about it?

It's a tablet to treat anxiety that basically destroys the brain long term and leaves users addicted and unable to get off it. Terrible stuff.

Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger and Whitney Houston had it in their system when they died.

Anyone use it or know anyone who uses it?

Generally used by patients before a major surgery, dangerous stuff - but just as dangerous to claim that it leaves more than a portion of users addicted...

It's incredibly effective for panic attacks.

I work at a medical clinic..

certainly interesting dealing with patients who have an obvious addiction with it when they encounter a doctor who won't prescribe it (most doctors don't prescribe it, from my experience)..

Didn't see the story though so can't comment on that -

Really? my doctor was away and i saw a different doctor at a different clinic who i straight out just told my prescription was finished and i needed more, didnt check datebases just wrote out the script..
I realise its very addictive my mum is a nurse and wasn't impressed when it got prescribed to me however i was only taking it maybe 4-5 times a week and only for a few months i never felt i needed it or got addicted, it certainly worked wonders and got me through that hard time in my life.

Is their a chemical similarity between these two?
They're both benzodiazepines. I'm not 100% sure but I think they're both psychoactive drugs. Xanax definitely is, but unsure on Valium.

Does anyone here take Fluoxetine or Olanzapine. They are similar to Xanax in different ways, but I may be wrong.

Nothing like 'em. Fluoxetine (prozac) is an SSRI anti-depressant and olanzapine (zyprexa) is an anti-psychotic.

have worked in addictions and benzo's are a bitch for folk to come off (long duration, re-emergence of anxiety symptoms that they were masking in the first place). Xanax is Ok if used for a brief period, and not to mix with other central nervous system depressants.

Personally, I like 'em

Thanks. I think I got confused where I read somewhere that a lot of people use Xanax with Fluoxetine.

By the way, never ever take olanzapine. It may help for the first 2-3 days, but after that... it's all downhill.

No, I don't watch current affairs programmed aimed at neanderthalls. But I looked up the website, and I really wish I had seen the show, if only to catch the Kenny Rogers interview/ extended advertisment .

Funny, that's not what my doctor told me about it. But I guess I'll just trust what you've told me about it, since you saw it on TV.

Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger and Whitney Houston had it in their system when they died.

And? Michael Jackson's death was attributed to propofol intoxication. Heath Ledger did have Xanax in his system, but only to take the edge of the (harmless amounts of) oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam and doxylamine. I can't be ****ed looking up what Whitney died off, but from memory she had an even bigger list of drugs in her system than our boy Heath. Cocaine being one of them. Cocaine's killed loads of people, by the way, despite Channel 7 saying it's worse than Xanax.

But please, continue telling me what other misinformation you learnt from the TV.

Anyone use it or know anyone who uses it?
Sure.

Oh yeah its that medication to treat softness.

edit:

Sorry how rude of me, I mean to say it masks the symptoms of softness.

Why bother fixing the cause of anxiety or poor sleep when you can just mask it with an addictive drug.

Very addictive. Can polish a bottle of 50 2mg in no time.

Had a very bad comedown on xanax. For two weeks all the anxieties that i had came back and it was hell. Didnt eat, couldnt sleep and constant vomiting. Plus i was mixing it was other stuff as well.

I also was taking cerapax as well.

Yeah i was on xanax/cerapax combo for 3 months non stop.

In my experience don't drink while on them. Total blackouts/embarrassing texts in the morning.

Have noticed a shit load of people get on them that aren't prescribed for it and become addicted.
