Xbox or PS2?

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about getting either an Xbox or PS2, but i really can't decide between the 2. The Beast pack is tempting me...2 games, dvd remote, etc. But then the games on Xbox seem to be mostly shooting type games...and I'm a girl I like some of the PS2 games like Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet & Clank, etc...all those gay, little kid type adventure ones!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

If you like adventure light hearted games get a game cube.

If you are thinking of getting a beast pack you had better hurry as they are being replaced by anouther xbox pack, it's called the classic pack you get a xbox 2 contollers 3 games halo, project gothem and can't rember the last one for $324.

I agree with carmelo if you are after fun adventure games that are aimed at kids get a game cube as they are much cheaper, but I don't know if you want a dvd player, which the cube does not have.

Consol isnt the way to go bluecrow. If you have cable internet and a fairly good computer (for the price of an Xbox or PS2 you could upgrade) then PC is the way to go.

- The graphics are better
- The games are usually cheaper
- There are more games to pick from
- You can play online - multiplayer (up to 64 players in some games)
- Dont have to worry about memory cards
- Faster Loading Times (depending on your system)


After saying that if you are really looking for a PS2 or Xbox then I think Xbox is the way to go. Ive got a PS2 and I just never use it (if I had an Xbox is would probably be the same)
Heres some +'s for each...

PS2:
+ More games (atm)
+ Better controllers
+ Slightly skinner then the Xbox

Xbox:
+ Better graphics
+ 4 Players
+ Quicker Loading times
+ Came out later then the PS2
+ Can upload your own songs for some games

Gamecube:
+ Cheap
+ Kids games
- Less games (I mean MUCH less)
- May die quicker then the other 2.

Still I think PC is the way to go..

Thing is on a console you know the games you get will work on your console, and you dont need some ****ty upgrade or anything like that. PC games you just never know what will work and how well and all that

The DVD player on the XBox is vastly superior to that on the PS2.

I bought the Beast Pack last week. For value, you couldn't not buy it. The quality of the game play and graphics is superb as well.

they're both average dvd players.
the ps2 has slightly better picture quality, and the xbox wins in sound.

you're better off with a decent stand alone dvd player.

anyways, back on topic, i'd go for an xbox.
who has the best games is debatable. But the ps2 came out 2 years before xbox, so xbox is naturally newer technology, hence the same games look and sound better on xbox. Also Xbox Live is a better online gaming service than what Sony is offering the PS2.

lol, what bull****. The DVD players are alrite, they both do the job, to say the PS2 has better picture quality and xbox better sounds is utter crap.
They both can handle there respective games, it all comes down to the company like EA Sports, Activision etc on how much effort they put into the quality. Sounds depends on the game you have as well, also, the sound system you have. The sound doesn't come out of the x box you know?

I have both PS2 and xbox, I barely ever play the PS2 any more. Mainly because the games I prefer are on x box, and the S control is so much better then the PS2 controls.

Overall, I would take the x box anyday. But, look at the games before you buy either, as that's what it will come down to. (I advise get it chipped too)

they're probably the only dvd players you have so you wouldn't know any different. I've got a stand alone Pioneer DVD player and the picture quality is much better.

I suppose you equate going out to McDonalds with fine dining. Afterall it does the job... lol ****.
But as long as you're happy with it.

and no Nintendo is not releasing a new console in 6 months.

I'm a female and have a PS2, only just got it for Christmas. But I'm loving it! Tis good fun, I find it simple to use and there is nothing wrong with the graphics.

lol, I also have a DVD player, DVD players on my computer, x box, PS2. I'm a technician, I do know what there capable off. But if you wanna be that fussy then go out and buy a whole new DVD player, but that's not the topic, his talking about PS2 or xbox, now GC.

That's my opinion, you can't tell all that much different with a PS2 and xbox. It's up to him.

I have PS2 and X-Box and i prefer the ps2, maainly cause of racing games and the GT series, i dont think a chick really wants Gran Turismo though

i also think the games are better

PS2 is better for sports games, although if they ever release a decent cricket game on X-Box, I might get one of those as well.

id love to know your basis on claming the ps2 has better picture quality? the dvd player on xbox ****s all over the ps2. and it does work pretty good.

Um, you aren't serious are you... it's kinda already been... released...

Re the original topic, if fun and infectious adventure games are your bag, ignore all the kiddie/gay musings and get a Cube. I have all 3 consoles, and the Gamecube probably gets more playtime than the others due to the top playability of available games. Quality over quantity is the case here my friends! Plus there is the nostalgia factor, not to be underestimated. And they're cheap!!

If I may use a well-worn analogy: think of the 3 consoles like this.

X-box - overpowered American muscle car, blows anything else away in a straight line, looks and handles like crud; either a Dodge Viper or Cadillac 16 (assuming it gets the go-ahead) Aesthetically speaking, a HummVee.

PS2 - Sleek, understated European sports sedan/coupe with some grunt; possibly an Audi S6 or a Maserati. Looks like an Audi too! Kinda.

Gamecube - Sporty little roadster, loads of fun to drive with kitschy appeal and deceptive power under the bonnet; Lotus Elise or a BMW Z4 (top down). For looks I'd go the VW Beetle or Smart Roadster. Possibly the Copen at a stretch.
