The worst people in the world are the police shamers who think it's their right to video record officers doing their job while they disrespectfully abuse them.

Yeah it is certainly highlighted on the news often enough, member of the public swearing, cursing, spitting, resisting and then friends recording and complaining that the officer was to rough putting the hand cuffs on, please!!

Woops didn't mean to comment again:)

I think Yarran had a shite day and was out to let off steam after a frustrating year....maybe there is something more sinister but we don't have the facts. He certainly doesn't appear to have endangered the lives of motorists or himself whilst under the influence of substances on canning highway....sorry that's a mental health issue as opposed to a criminal issue. My bad, I know Yarrans behaviour was much worse because he was charged.:dizzy:

**** me the excuse making in here is appalling. "Maybe he had a bad day." We all do. Mostly, rarely, does it result in this.

Or then blaming his friends?

He got a move on notice and didn't obey. Definitely not a terrible thing to do and that alone doesn't make him a bad person, and doesn't reflect appallingly on the club.

However it's his combined history and this shit that just proves how stupid his drafting was. He's old, been in jail, came to the club with injury, and quite clearly hasn't learnt to pull his head in when he's been drinking. People on here want to deflect his behaviour and compare it to Cuzzy Bro or whatever, but the double standards here are basically a self-parody.

One of the dumbest ****ing drafting choices we have ever made. The bloke is bonafide not ready for AFL football.

Amazing how Yarran gets a hundred free passes but Josh Simpson barely got one... and Simpson never bashed anyone...

You make some fair points on Yarran but your constant defence on Simpson is ridiculous. Ffs the guy cracked the sads and couldn't even be bothered to rock up to catch a plane flight and had quite a few other discipline issues at the club, he was a space cadet.

He was drafted with that, that can't be counted for or against him.
That just reinforces my argument!

Why would you draft someone at that age when they'll have six months out?

He's basically ruled out for most of 2016 as he didn't get a proper pre-season. Pretty hard to bust into the first team when you can't run out a full game. And it would have been impossible if we were contenders again as the club thought. Essentially he wasn't ever going to – or won't – play until 2017, in which he'll be 28.

Considering our fall, I would hate us to patronise someone like that considering he'll be retired by 31 at the absolute most.

Even if we were still top four, I'd rather give games to a younger player unless Yarran turned out to be as good as Sonny Walters. Which he wouldn't.

It was a confusing and bizarre, arrogant draft choice. The fact we opted for him in the main one and not the rookie draft adds to the curiosity.

Given Lyon had his contract extended early I expect there was a long term view taken with many of our choices. That includes replacing Mayne if he mentioned that he will leave via free agency, so if that was the case then Yarran would be needed for next season more than this one and we have been burned letting guys slip to the next draft.

I am sure if he was a recognisable face in footy he would not have received it. Same with any team.Maybe it is a double standard.
IMO as long as the club has no issue with his actual drinking, it should just be brushed aside. AS far as I can see, he has been well behaved since being drafted and he was open and upfront about unlike players at my club.

What? Did Mayne want to leave last season or next? Or did Ross Lyon mention this? Go on.

I think it worth considering the possibility that Mayne let the club know that a pulling force is going to see him explore free agency.

Whether that is a draw from the girlfriend, or he has been shown a number on a contract offer we won't go near is up for debate.

If he did let the club know that position then it makes sense that they pick up a mature body replacement for him, and it doesn't matter that he won't play the first half of the overlap year.

Are you talking baseless conjecture? If so well then maybe Connor Blakely will get a million dollars from GWS or Lachie Neale is now paying Fremantle in his new contract...

Or if you have genuine authority, ala as you said you did with Cam McCarthy, well offer up or don't be so vague. It's akin to the rumour board shit, except there someone says something interesting or lets on an obvious clue within a page...

Also a mature body... it's not really essential and Yarran isn't some nugget with crunching tackles and a big body. I know Mayne isn't either but they don't seem, either of them, roles really necessary for us in 2016-2017. They aren't really good enough to be lead by example players or big enough to take main defenders...

It was a terrible drafting idea. No argument.

Ok

You said you didn't see it , guessing Danny?
No I saw it alright and I never said I didn't (find me the post if you disagree ) but I said I didn't agree with your claim that it was done with an open hand or with a lettuce leaf but I think you were guessing ha ha.Do you not remember we sat together at the game and discussed the incident so how do you think I didn't see it. I believe that the strike was done with a closed fist which warranted a report and the MRP saw it the same way and they offered Shane a reprimand. If it had been a open hand it would probably not attracted anymore penalty than the free kick and 50 metres.:p:p:D:thumbsu:
