Some people on here don't see the big picture. We have Benell on the list who has (any maybe is still) been in a very bad way. Do you really want other players being bad influences on him? This could easily of been a situation where both of them went out, and than god Bennell wasn't with him. Yarran should never of been out on the town the night after a game.

I've passed Mayne walking in Freo of an evening with his girlfriend post match. There is nothing wrong with going out post match, they are citizens and have the right to do so. Yarran might have been out at a restaurant, could very well have been sober.

He didn't move on from an area when the cops told him to. That could mean anything, he could have gone to the bus stop 10 meters away to wait for a bus, or was waiting for people (wife for example) so that he could move on and go home. He may have intended to comply for all we know.

On the flip side, maybe he had been up to naughtiness and they applied the lesser of any charge they could, but there is no information available with which to form a lynch mob.

On this charge though, frankly, it's a bullshit charge and one that's prone to profiling by the cops, he hasn't actually been done for breaking any law aside from a special law of breathing in public. He's been charged with "cops didn't want him around" and not for having been agro or drunk and disorderly, hindering the police etc.

Yeah, and Ben Cousins was doing his civic duty directing traffic.

With his previous conviction, if he'd been in any way, shape or form up to mischief, the cops would have thrown the book at Yarran and charged him with whatever offences there were (public drunkness, obscenity, assault, hindering police, there is no shortage of things to charge people with). This is a pretty innocuous charge, little more than breathing near a policeman that doesn't want to see you breathing near them. There may be more to it, we'll know soon enough.

Unless there is more to the story, failing to move when told by a cop in no way compares to Cousins latest. Lives endangered? Property endangered?

Couldn't agree more. Cops abuse power. Just a few hours ago I finished a gym session with a mate and was driving with him on our way to get some food. A cop car drove pass us and I said to my mate "watch, they'll make a turn and follow me" (worth noting I don't drive a fast/done up car nor am I a P plater) and off course they did just that, in fact to catch up to me from where they turned they would've gone about 120/130 down the road just to get behind me, breaking the law themselves to drive right on my ass for no reason whatsoever. When I made a turn (to go the the street China Bar is on) they pulled me over and started asking questions. Cops abuse power for no reason, some are good and some are pathetic, Yarran could've done something stupid or he could of gotten a cop who abused his power for no reason.

I hate this sort of attitude. I teach kids and it's this mentality that constantly brings us back to chats about taking responsibility.
Your post is shifting blame onto the cops and I personally hate these type of posts trying to take the heat off someone who disobeyed orders by authority.
I'm all for redemption and second chances, but I truly get annoyed by our society and acceptance of people who do wrong things as someone elses fault or issue.

How do you know he did anything wrong?

The whole problem with a move on notice is that you don't have to have broken any law to be issued one, but then you are breaking the law if you ignore it. It would be considered a violation of the presumption of innocence in many countries.

What it sounds like is a piss head with no respect for authority.

Don't put any sh1t on west coast if you are going to accept this type of behaviour.

I am in the cut out the cancer before it spreads camp not the I see nothing nothing WC camp.
You're not aware of the story and you've come to that conclusion already?
Think this is just a bit over used and an over reaction to be honest. Sylvia's pathetic-ness hasn't impacted the group.

Not sure if I read it somewhere - reported in the game for striking then this sh*t after he game?

given our situation we don't need a 27 yr old cancer who can't get on the field and sort his off field mess out..

Yeah reported for striking as well.

Let's wait to see what the club says, we already have 14 people to delist I don't want to add another one to that list but if we do, then so be it.

My point about becoming WC remains. If you are not going to take a hard line on clear discipline issues then we become WC. How does that sit with you?????

Or can't you see the the lack of discipline issue here, blind much?

What is really concerning is not obeying the move on notice, I mean really, did he suddenly forget his past and the last chance he was on???

If you can't see that this is an issue for the footy club when you have already taken a massive risk with a player like Bennell then I think we are heading down to a potentially "blind" Worsfold type era at Freo. That would not sit well with me at all.

The last time I looked at the clubs report on the incident he was being counselled and also was going to suffer a club sanction. What more do you expect for what is in the scheme of things a minor offence. Some on here need to get of their high horse.

On the surface it looks bad but I think Shane would be prone to potential bias by the cops just based on his race, his record and even potentially if they are eagles supporters. He notified the club straight away. I would want more information before judging him. Was really looking forward to him being able to push for a senior game in the next few weeks - particularly if Chris Mayne looks like he is leaving at the end of the year.

2016 is just a complete write off for us, everything is going wrong, only good thing will hopefully be a top 3 draft pick.
was thinking the same, but then remembered Neale re-signing, weller, Blakely, Collins, and a maturing-tabs which gave me something.

I much prefer it used by police for forcing compliance than the next option, their taser.

The operator is the issue but they can't all be trained to deal with all types of people, put aside their own bias and the influences that have guided their day to that point etc.

No opinion matters. Mid season reviews for all players happen during bye week.

The club will be telling him in no uncertain terms about his future at the club.

The facts for the mid season review a talented 27yo, hasn't played a game due to injuries, just been arrested, out drinking while still given limited minutes in the WAFL, reported in the game, in a list currently under rebuild.

This doesn't bode well for Shane

I got out of it because I gave him the wrong details but many years ago a cop was going to give us a ticket for disorderly just for banging the hand piece in frustration 3 times against a faulty public phone (freezing cold and wanted a lift instead of a 30 min walk home from the pub) It was loud and silly but nothing was damaged and I wasn't even slightly rude to him or anything.

Tsk, think of the backpacker that has to use it after you.
