Dissaponted in his decision making. Also dissaponted wth his mates. None of them had the ability to think that once the cop gave the notice they should move on? Shane's decision I know, but it seems that nobody in the group had any commonsense. I hope his misses rips into him about being a provider and role model for the kids. I also hope she's not making excuses for him I.e. The cops were out to get him.

Tsk, think of the backpacker that has to use it after you.
It was in 1999 when a lot of people didn't have mobiles.
Clearly there were a lot of Freo posters in Leederville with Yaran that night to know that he was drinking when the available evidence says nothing of the sort.
Nah he was just at the Leedy flower shop. Yup, getting drunk down at the ole flower shop.

Formal statement from club saying he was charged by police. Pretty factual for me
It is the circumstances for that charge that are being guessed at here and assumptions made about Yarran that he was talking about.

Some people can believe that maybe he was just really stupid and didn’t know how to handle a move on notice. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was drinking.

Ever had a move on notice before?

I got one at Spring in the Valley (years ago) for accompanying a mate acting out, I walked 20 metres down the street - answered a phone call briefly then was charged with a fail to move on notice and fined.

The notice acts a quick precursor to a financial fine (like many infringements) - when you've had a few to drink you might not take the seriousness of this as quickly as you normally would.

Leederville cops have always used it as a means of easing human congestion as the night spots are extremely popular and at above capacity

I reckon there's a good chance the dude was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. 2 years ago when we had that shock loss to Saint Kilda at Etihad before the bye a fair few of our guys were seen out knocking back a few.

Yeah I have a few times when I was younger and I actually did get a fine once because I was a fool and didn’t leave. Surely if you’re 27 and an AFL footballer and you get a move on notice you leave ASAP. The club’s PR would drown the players in this kind of stuff.

I've had 2 or 3 of them. All came with an immediate $200 or so fine from what I can remember?? Didn't hang around to get charged once I was given one to find out what happens though....

Surely you jest.
Don't call me Shirley.

If you can speculate about what he was doing, I can do the same about what he wasn't.

Perhaps he was busking noisily, possibly singing a cappella and hitting all the wrong notes.

From memory they can be pretty vague too, i.e "I don't want to see you again tonight" and if you get spotted again even a few hours later and at a completely different venue you're still ****ed

Double the fine then - really cant stand that type of bad singing!

Not just a failure to move on, but a disorderly charge as well.

"Yarran was initially issued with a move on notice by police in Leederville.
A short time later he was spoken to again by police for allegedly failing to obey the move on notice.
The 27-year-old was subsequently charged with disorderly behaviour in public and fail to obey an order given by police."

"What the Law states according to WA Law for Disorderly Behaviour in Public (Disorderly Conduct)
According to WA Law for the charge of Disorderly Behaviour in Public (Disorderly Conduct):

Section 74A: A person who behaves in a disorderly manner in a public place or in the sight or hearing of any person who is in a public place or who behaves in a disorderly manner in a police station or lock-up, is guilty of an offence.

“Disorderly Behaviour” includes:

(1) Using insulting, threatening or offensive language; and
(2) Behaving in an insulting, threatening or offensive manner."

I presume then that he had some words about being moved on, which led to the disorderly charge. Note: they would have charged him with some form of public drunkenness charge as well if he was pissed, they didn't.

Thankfully WA's would be lollipop man/traffic controller extraordinaire is keeping this a bit quieter than it would be otherwise

Especially given the unfortunate weight the Yarran surname has with Freo and criminal charges (was the same surname of the guy that got done for assault in last years prelim iirc)

Let's hope he learns from it and realises that he could potentially be wasting a massive second chance at life (or potentially could have wasted it)

Exactly :thumbsu:

No one's saying he didn't do the wrong thing in some capacity as the available evidence clearly shows, but given also that no one knows the context of the charges...calls for him to "**** off" out of the club are fairly premature.

Dunno why more people aren't remembering the coach's mantra - We don't deal in hypotheticals.

Telling cops to **** off is a perfectly reasonable response to being issued a move on notice imo.

Ever had a move on notice before?

There is no doubt that cops can be dumb as ****. When I was young (in my teens I think), I was walking home from a party. As I walked up the hill in front of my house I noticed that there was a separate, and large, party on my own street. There were plenty of cars and a police presence which I found slightly interesting. Anyway, I sat on the wall of my front lawn for a moment, just to have a look at the mayhem down the road. So a cop car pulled up at the front of my house and caught be by surprise as I wasn't at all looking for trouble. They asked me to 'move on', thinking that I attended the party down the road, which I didn't. So I'm wondering both, how the hell can I 'move on' from my own home? and what law am I breaking by standing on our own property no matter the time? So I tried to explain to the moron that I actually live here; and even recited some facts about the house, street number, family name etc., which he didn't believe. So he tries to be a hero and threatens to knock on the door to expose the fact that I don't actually live there (WHICH I DID!). I try to explain that this would be a lose/lose situation because it would either wake my family or wake up an innocent family who did nothing wrong. So the dickhead knocks on the door and wakes up my parents. I walk into the house and say a few choice words. I didn't get charged but it shows how pathetic and arrogant cops can be.

So I will wait and see hows it plays out before commenting any more.

Yeah, good one - everyone thinks it's OK to tell a cop to **** off until they need one. Maybe the alternative to telling him to move on was to arrest him. Maybe the cops were doing him a favour - we just don't have the facts.

Did you see Shane Yarran on Friday night ? I know you saw Harley Bennell at the game at the G.
No, I was just referring to Bennell.

Most clubs have alcohol bans during the season, and after playing a game recovery is paramount - especially when the club is experiencing an injury crisis - and alcohol and a late night impede this. This isn't the off-season.
Freo don't have an alcohol ban. I can't remember where I read it, but the evidence from seeing players out or on their instagrams is enough proof.

I obviously have no idea what the actual circumstances are, but a bit of profiling wouldn't surprise me honestly. I've been out a few times where guys I'm with get done for not moving on, but all us girls are completely ignored. Because apparently only males can cause trouble?

I was pulled over twice on my P's doing nothing wrong, never been pulled over in almost 10yrs since being off them. Some of them are just dickheads looking to fill their quota and pick on youf that's for sure. Especially traffic cops.

No comment on this situation other than it is disappointing that he is even in this situation.

One of my mates had to give one his name once, his surname is Smith and the cop wouldn't believe him and accused him of making it up lol.

I was on my Ps in a small town for about 6 months and no exaggeration I reckon I would have got pulled over on average about once a week.

Delist , thats it.
