You offered a better contract or a better dream, it happens. Not much more we can do in that situation. But I saying that we are stacked in his position.

Since Brexit it's pretty dog eat dog between the English clubs in terms of youth.

PL really need to do something about academy poaching or almost all of the academies will cease to exist. The top clubs are already pinching 14+ year olds and hoarding them in the academy. Not saying all will make it but it just makes academies obsolete.

It's a huge problem for Celtic with PL teams stealing academy players. You can't sign them to contracts so they just get picked off as soon as they turn 16. Most of them end up shit but it is a fair kick in the balls when Liverpool take Doak for 500k compensation fee, loan him out for a couple of years, then ask for 20+ million for him. It also makes it really difficult to come up with home grown players for Europe as the only way you can keep any decent academy players that qualify for home grown is if they are late developers and are overlooked by everyone else.

I do agree, I think the system is broken when it comes to holding on to youth prospects against the bigger clubs.

Seems to happen a lot more of late. Used to be German clubs that would tap up kids in academies on the promise of senior football. Now more than often it's other English clubs.

Our two clubs used to have a handshake agreement not to pinch off each other, but once brexit happened things change.
