What's your best side with the current list? exclude injuries and all that stuff, If you were the coach and you were in the match comittee deciding the line up, how would it go?
I've had a go at it....

B: McPhee------------Parker--------------Fewster
HB: Carr---------------Brown---------------Kickett
C: Norrish--------------Bell----------------Hasleby
HF: Koops---------------Pavlich------------Shipp
F: Farmer-------------Croad--------------Waterhouse
R: Longmuir------------Cook-------------McManus
Inter: Medhurst, Simmonds, Walker, Jones

Emg: Toia Woods Dodd

What ya think?

No offense, and I know your entitled to your opinion, but I didn't think that was the greatest of efforts.

This is mine (assuming everyone is fit and has match fitness).

B: Polak Jones Koops
HB: Parker McPharlin Carr
C: Siegert Cook Hasleby
HF: Farmer Waterhouse T.Longmuir
F: Medhurst Croad J.Longmuir
R: Simmonds Bell Pavlich

I: Brown, McPhee, Cunningham, Grover

E: Haines, McManus, Norrish

You may notice Pavlich is playing on the ball, I think he would be at his most damaging there. What we need to do is trade/delist McManus/Norrish/Walker/Fewster/Metro/maybe even Cook (if we get quality in return) etc and get a couple of decent midfielders (and also give us some cap space if we want to keep some of our stars). Maybe we could trade with one of the bottom 4 sides (assuming we dont finish in the bottom 4) our first pick and a player, so we can pick up Wells before West Coast get him. Maybe we should also try and trade with Richmond. They need in and under midfielders, we need running midfielders. They are also in dissarray (in current form) so their players values may have decreased a bit.

I know it may sound tough talking about trading players such as McManus, Norrish and Cook....but lets be realistic....would they get games in premiership contending sides such as Brisbane, PA and Essendon? Cook might, but I doubt the other two would.

Sabre, no Carr? We need atleast one tagger. And Woods is not in our best 18 yet, not by a long shot. I agree he has potential, but he hasn't done much. And Jones on the bench? I think he'd be close to our #1 defender. Other than that, not a bad effort. And I would also find a spot for Brown on the bench.

Hope you don't mind if I have a go. I watch all the freo games and think this is close to their best team.

B: Parker - Jones - Grover

HB: McPhee - Pavlich - Koops

C: Walker - Cook - Carr

HF: Brown - Longmuir - Waterhouse

FF: Farmer - Croad - Medhurst

Ruck: Simmonds - Bell - Haselby

Inter: McManus - T.Longmuir - Polak - Siegert/Haines

Emerg: Siegert/Haines - Norrish - Shipp - McPharlin

Have to say I can't split Siegert and Haines. Haines is going to be a very good player for Fremantle, but has only played one game. His disposal is much better than Siegert's in my opinion.

Grover is a player that is underestimated, his attack on the ball is exceptional. He along with Parker form a very underrated Freo defence.

At this stage McPharlin I can't put in as I havn't seen how he has progressed since his injury. Due to this I have him listed as an emergency for now.

Have to say the position Freo really struggle in is Full Back. Jones is a very good player but is more suited to CHB. If Pavlich leaves he may take this position next year. That would leave Parker or perhaps McPharlin in the position of full back. But for his size McPharlin looks more like a CHB or CHF to me.

No offence docker fans, but how the hell you can put McPharlin in your best side is beyond me.

He is yet to play a game for the dockers.

AND

He hasn't played a great number of AFL games (less than 15 if I remember correctly).

McPharlin if you guys have seen him train is an absolute gun, and no I am not over rating him.
He has Hay written all over him, fast backman were lacking in the side.

Here is my best 22:

B: Parker - McPharlin - Polak

HB: Grover - Pavlich - Koops

C: Haines - Bell - Carr

HF: Waterhouse - Brown - Farmer

FF: J.Longmuir - Croad - Medhurst

R: Simmonds - Cook - Haselby

Int: Siegert - Cunningham - T.Longmuir - Walker

Yes, I know that Haines has only played one game, but he has excellent defensive pressure skills (tackling, smothering etc) and is an accurate kick who should end up being a good player. Polak has played only 1 and a half games but his poise under pressure, as well as his speed, agility and defensive and attacking skills means that he will end up being a quality defender.

The midfield remains a weakness, lacking skill, with Haselby and Bell being the only proven skillful players. The poor disposals of Cook, and McManus remain a worry. We still have Browne to make his debut, however another midfielder like Wells would slot very nicely into our midfield :D

J.Longmuir seems to struggle when having a set shot for goal from outside 45 metres, which is why I think he should play deeper in the forward line

sabre, you are absolutely right, he is an athletlic tall defender who is suited to a key position. He is the type of player that freo have lacked over its years
