Your Download/Upload speed

This is from home, but I'm wireless on my new Apple MacBook Pro and Netgear WGT624 108 MBPS wireless router. It's not bad as it only cost a one time fee of US$50 to hook it up and then free each month for the service from PurDigital, along with free wireless Fastpass service throughout Atlanta. I may try the wireless service in the common area of my condo building here in Midtown Atlanta later too, and from work tomorrow as well.

So the PurDigital wireless here in the common area of my condo building has a faster download speed, but a slower upload speed as seen above. Again, pretty good for a service that only had a one time installation fee!

The Comcast cable service at work is a fair bit slower than the Biltmore PurDigital service at home.

At least the uni has decent internet!

**** a duck.

Beats my 300kb/s. I really need to upgrade.

Is there any tricks to getting faster speed?

Yes, but it involves tweaking your registry, and perhaps your OS. I had found a great site dealing with such things, step by step stuff ... but I lost the address. It was quite detailed, informative and it works (few of my mates tried it and everything went well).

Will try and find that site, and post it here. Because I want to do this myself, though I'n not promising anything.

Just regular optus cable. Had it for 5 years and still get better pings on telstra servers than bigpond customers.

Green with envy. I'm with Optus too, and it seems by cable connection isn't reaching its full potential. When I see 12,000+ kb/s, and mine a paltry 4000ish, I know something's up. Hmmm.

No worries, thanks.

My Mac is faster at home when connected directly to the modem than when it is wireless.
