We always hear from every clubs supporters how good their new picks are gonna be and always hear of the positives, but we rarely hear of any negatives once they are picked up by your team.

So how bout we have a thread where clubs supporters list what they think the negatives of their picks are.

Ill start off with Ports.

Willits - Lacking in pace and has a questionable kick for goal.

Ezard - far too slight and needs to put on a lot of muscle to ever be an A Grade midfield option.

DeLuca - didnt want to leave Melbourne so may head off home in a couple of years time

Eckermann - height may put him back a little bit.

Roughead- Tambling situation, wont be dominant for a few years
Franklin- Go home factor, along with Hay is worrying?
Lewis- Already have same type of player, slowish
Murphy- Another Backman
Little- needs work on his body, shortish
Taylor- recently injured and is a ruck, nothing more needs to be said....

Dont get me wrong, because they all look promising.

Sorry the hype can put everyone off.

But I think the Hawks have done very well - 2 good KPP to build a forward line around, a smart hard nut of a footballer in Lewis, Little who at 187cm is not tall, but is smart, and I think overall everyone should be happy.

Rosa ~ not really sure. ive never seen him play, he sounds like an allround type. not outstanding or weak in any area. Perhaps a little outside?

LeCras ~ clever and finds the footy but has questionable ball use.

Morton ~ plays abit like a receiver. not sure he was told to play this role because of his kicking or its his style.

Smith ~ age -25. should be an adequate FF tho.

i love it how all hopes are raised after a draft. every club thinks they have done well etc. on average only 20-25 players will ever make 100 games for their clubs. so in reality only one (possibly 2) of your draftees will make 100 games.

If you want to be really negative.
C.Egan - Question mark on his ability to play midfield. Lazy? Only a flashy small forward?
S.Rusling - Only one SANFL reserves game to qualify for draft. Only really seen at schoolboy level. May not step up.
T.Cloke - Mobility? Ability to fit in to side. Goal kicking.
A.Iacubucci - Not enough guns? Kicking?

Jesse Smith - curse of the Roos father-son, they always seem to be duds. Also, as with other highly rated youngsters, you wonder if they can take the next step - they might find the lower levels so easy that they don't have the work ethic to take it to the next level when they play against experienced and hardened AFL footballers.

Brad Moran - He may never develop the footy brains - no point in running fast unless you're running to the right spaces on the field. Also, will he pick up the skills quickly enough? He may also run home to Queensland once he gets through a Melbourne winter (it seems that England's weather was one reason for his family to move to Australia).

Ben Schwarze - Could he be like his brother? Also, according to Port Melbourne regulars, he was useless in the first half of 2004, but improved as the season went on. What happens if his second half form was a sheer fluke?

Daniel Pratt - Leigh Matthews just doesn't let good players go. Also, will he follow team instructions? And I seem to remember that he lacked a bit of pace too.

Brett Deledio ~ What could be a negative about Brett?? Maybe the pressure on him could stop him being what everyone expects him to be but I wouldnt think so.

Richard Tambling ~ Bling Bling is a superstar in the making, but the negative about him could be his size. Having watched him a lot, that would definetely be all because theres not much else!

Danny Meyer ~ Probably his size again being very light on he would need to put on some pounds to be a regular AFL player.

Adam Pattison ~ His kicking and Lateral movements are his weaknesses and the fact Cameron Wood was still there to be picked was a bit of a shock, but Terry and Greg have there reasons which I understand.

Dean Polo ~ Again weight, will need to put on some muscle to his frame and gain some composure and decision making, but is a good size for a midfielder and good in the stoppages.

Luke McGuane ~ Raw. But Talented.

Dean Limbach ~ Injuries, otherwise a serious talent MARK MY WORDS.

Mark Graham ~ Age and the fact he was delisted or retired by Hawthorn.

Carlton....NONE

Wanted a potential midfielder with pace and good foot skills to develop....Got one

Wanted a 195cm KPP who can kick it 60 and hopefully play FB.....Got one

Wanted an in and under onballer with wonderful skills by hand and foot....Got one.

Wanted a young mobile Ruckman to develope......Got one

Wanted a 17 yr old to develope for the future.....Got one.

How good they all are is anyones guess but Carlton got everything on their shopping list and within the confines of their picks. We got the type/style of players we were after so hopefully in the long term they work out as we would hope.

Thats the whole point of this thread. Every player will not turn out as everyone hopes. Not every player is going to end up being a 200 game regular in your side. Just about every player has at least one fault or weakness that may hold them back. What are they?

N. Ablett - Well documented. Is the desire there? Will he handle the pressure? Played in the bush, big jump up to AFL level.

M. Egan - VFL fullback of the year. Not too many good full forwards in the VFL, Sautner the only standout that I can think of.

B. Prismall - No idea, I haven't seen him play. Footydraft lists pace and work ethic as weaknesses. We already have Ling, Bartel, Corey in the middle, none of whom you would classify as quick.

Why does everyone think Murphy is a backman played chf for most of year for dragons and was put chb in metro where he did a stellar job on Roughead

C.Egan - seems to be a tad lazy.
S.Rusling - only one SANFL reserves match..
T.Cloke - too many people in his possie
A.Iacobucci - none - this kid will be a gun.

I'm not complaining about ANY of them, because they all have pace (bar Trav obviously, but he can play).

Agree here. Only problem with Iacobucci is his injury problems. Other than that he sounds great. Mick has taken a punt on nearly all of them. Their either gunna win us a premiership or give us a wooden spoon.

Deledio - Skills not as silky as the likes of Tambling & Griffen. Question over his medium size, too big for midfield, too small for kpp?

Tambling - Body size. Has put on 5kg in between weigh ins to hit 74kg but has a small frame so may not be the capacity to put on much more. Doesn't seem to trouble Davey & Wells so not a huge negative.

Meyer - Smaller than Tambling, hopefully won't suffer from Fiora syndrome.

Pattison - Has a pretty big turning circle, then again so does J Brown. Poor kick for goal.

Polo - Suspect kicking under pressure

McGuane - Again size is a question mark, pretty skinny. Did we only take him because we've also hired his uncle in an off-field role.

Limbach - Injuries shouldn't be an issue as it was only a wrist, not anything that could threaten a career like anything below the waist. Only worry is that from the injury have we seen enough of him to know he'll make the grade. Again is pretty lightweight at only 191cm 77kg, almost exactly the same stats as McGuane.

Graham - Age. Kicking is a bit suspect and a bit too late to rectify, but for the role he was recruited for he's proven he can do the job

Bate - Possibly too big for midfield and too small for KP. Also has no right foot.

Haven't seen enough of Dunn and Newton to comment.

Too big for midfield or a midfielder in the Pavlich/Heard mould?

Midfielders.

We have enough, so we take Moore, who sounds good(But don't they all) and Spriggs who has been useless.

Taking James was the right thing to do, imo, but we needed at least two KP's, I wanted three.

Russell - I like the sound of this kid but pre-draft, he seemed to be a solid contributor rather than a game breaker.

Hartlett - Didn't play in the carnival due to injury so he is hard to judge. I have doubts because so many West Adelaide players were drafted and they won't all make it. Also seems to like it up forward more while we recruited him as a defender.

Blackwell - Very small and thin and not overly blessed with pace. Will need every bit of his ball finding ability and skill to make it.

Bryan - The guy is 22. Where has he been?

Raso - Far too early to judge him. Speculative pick.

Note: I am excited about all these guys, it's a bit of a stretch to find negatives.

Particularly in a draft supposedly good for talls.

Roughead - being talked up as the next J.Brown.. may turn out to be L. Brown and just become a servicable big bloke rather than a dominant one.

Franklin - perhaps attitude may well prove a problem afterall. Could become a 6'5 rr type rather than the KP we drafted him for.

Lewis - struggle to find a role in a side filled through the middle with similar types. Found out for body size when up against grown men of similar or better build? Pace?

Murphy and Little - both undersized KP and only capable of being '3rd' stringers. Struggle to adapt to lesser roles if not viewed as key components of the side?

Taylor - late developer with a lot of devloping still to do. The next (in a vvverrryyyy long line) late picked HFC ruck prospect to hang around for a few years before being delisted.

Thomson - vanilla midfielder, no exceptional traits. May not have the potential to become an elite midfielder. Looks like Jonathan Creek.

Willits - could have peaked in physical development, may not have a head for the game at AFL level. Will likely be suspended regularly for reckless play.

Ezard - he looks like he's 12. Potentially the next Nathan Steinberner.

Deluca - apparently rivals Matthew Clarke for his around-the-ground work. Likely to sook off to Carlton who will need a ruck in a couple of years.

Eckermann - too short, his pace isn't useful often enough for an inside player, his skills aren't good enough for outside.

Chris Bryan has to be classified as a gamble - I'm not convinced he is the answer to the Blues rucking problems.

They will take Knobel in the PS draft so that will give them another option.
