I just chucked a name in, I'd be happy with Carlisle, Black or anyone of them. Vardy at #11 is probably too high, I do rate him around #16, which is where Port have their third pick, & if they use their first two picks on players like Melksham & Butcher then chances are they'll be looking for a ruckman with their third pick, so if we want him we'd have to take him at #11. Though he could very well slip to #18, not ruling it out at all.
Hate this superstition: Port have Lobbe, Trengrove among others as potentially elite developing ruckmen, this would be last on their list.

You obviously have no idea about him yourself to make such a dumb comment.

He's a ball magnet much in the mould of Dane Swan and i wouldnt be suprised if he got his chance rotating through the midfield with us. A damn sided better than Buckley or Wheatley and im pretty sure Wheels was a back pocket or maybe i wasnt watching close enough?

Put Joely Mac in your supercoach team next year he will rack up some serious points:thumbsu:

Crikey I didn't realiize he was such a gun!

- Strange thing is neither does Michael Voss or 15 other AFL coaches & recruiting staff, who weren't prepared to put up anything to trade for him when they had the chance.

Maybe they don't have your insight and knowledge of the game.

Get real Rodney, players don't get cut without a reason; he's similar to our Buckley in that he gets his share of the ball, but too often his disposal lets him down.

Anyone who thinks we should pick temel at 34, patrick at 50 or even think about taking Daw in the ND needs to stop reading the Pulse section in the herald sun and do some actual research!

Temel at 50 is a little bit to much but not the worst most likely 60-70, Patrick and Daw are rookie options!

1. Scully
2. Trengove
11. Butcher or Black (Butcher most likely gone)
18. Vardy (need a ruckman badly and fits mould of modern day ruckman)
34. Bartlett(agree with easter31,if hadn't done acl would be top 10)
50. Grimesy mk2/ Patrick/ Temel.

PSD. McDonald - (would free up jack grimes into middle).

Scott Clayton from his live chat on afl.com.au today, put the 15 players that could go top 10 on thursday night. And according to him, this list is in "no particular order". But it just seems very familiar...

Scott Clayton:
Thanks a lot for your questions guys.

Plenty of interest in my top 10 so I'll finish with the 15 players, in no particular order, who I think the top 10 will come from:

Jack Trengove, Tom Scully, Dustin Martin, Anthony Morabito, Ben Cunnington, Gary Rohan, Lewis Jetta, Jake Melksham, John Butcher, Andrew Moore, Daniel Talia, Aaron Black, Jasper McMillan-Pittard, Brad Sheppard and Kane Lucas.

They are all worthy top 10 selections. Good luck to all the boys hoping to get an opportunity on Thursday night.

Thoughts? :):thumbsu:

Pick 1 = Trengove.
Use him at Pick 1 and if he plays like Scott Thompson, MFC can bargain with Port or Crows for more value based on this.

Pick 2 = Scully
Should be and happy with number 1. But with the reason (as explained above for Trengove), MFC can put the pressure off Scully.

Pick 11 = Butcher (If available). If not, one of Taila or Carlisle
KPP is required in this pick. One of these 3 should do the job.

Pick 18 = Ball
MFC are below salary cap according to AFL rules. Ball will be a perfect fit not only leadership, but helps to overcome the minimum salary cap requirement by AFL.

Pick 34 = Vary (If available). If not Gawn or Fitzpatrick
Losing Meeson, a ruckman is needed to support Jamar. I have the feeling that Essendon could use Pick 24 or 26 on Gawn.

Pick 50 = Grimes
Prefer Grimes than Thorp. Thorp failed medical check and Pick 50 for Thorp is a waste - similar to Meeson for Pick 37

Would love Liam Patrick, but I have this feeling he could be gone around Pick 40's zone with few clubs interested.

NO GRIFFITHS PLEASE = Injury prone.

PSD: McDonald
Pretty much confirmed. Good choice and helps to free up Jack Grimes and Morton in the midfield. :thumbsu:
