Been a while since i've posted in here, haven't been playing a lot due to a knee issue, i have gone from having mild arthritis in my left year 5 years ago to now having severe arthritis after having recent scans, and basically my left is bone on bone. The bloody cold weather causes the arthritis to flare up big time, hasn't stopped from playing, just slowed me down on how much i can play.

Two weekends ago played at Howlong Golf resort, managed to convince the wife it would a good place to spend her birthday weekend :).
Arrived on the Friday around 10am for an 11.30 tee time only to find my tee time was earlier ( hadn't been told ) and i was part of a foursome for a charity day for a young lady suffering breast cancer, no problems hustled to the 2nd tee as i'd missed the first, we were playing 4 ball ambrose, my partners were reasonable and i hit them decent, and to my surprise we won the day. Next day had an afternoon tee time, managed to go around in 88, always shoot well at this course for some unknown reason.

This Sunday playing Cape Schanck with a social club with a tee time of 7.30am, weather looks like below for Melb so expect a bit cooler down there, not expecting it to be easy, but looking forward to a hit anyway.

I wear a knee brace, not too much pain whilst playing, after the round it can be an issue depending on what happens during the round, my whole knee is messed up and eventually i will have to get a knee replacement, which i sort of knew about, not going to stop me from playing though. Have to be in a cart though from now on.

Yeh but you're a soft lot at National :) , we'll tough it out.

All cool mate, these things happen, i've also started taking Curcumin tablets recently, from the Tumeric plant which is a natural anti inflammatory, have noticed a difference after two weeks. So my hacking days will continue :)

Well Cape Schanck was windy and sideways rain , toughest conditions i've ever played in, no chance of any control of the ball, you just hit it and hope it ended some where on the fairway.

Had 109 off the stick, probably my highest score in a long time, but given the conditions i was not to upset with that had a ten and twelve on two holes, which didn't help.

stock standard down that way in winter. Don't think it's gonna get any better for a few weeks!

We told our guy who books the courses to never book that course again at this time of the year.

I can see why your club would have cancelled, especially given Saturday was considered worse than yesterday, the pro told us yesterday they had 50 booked for the course on Saturday and only 4 played.

If i had not paid up in front, i would not have played.

Weds was cancelled, but saturday and yesterday went ahead as normal.

Impressed you soldiered on though mate!

Winning streak over for little AC. Had a blow up hole and took double on Par 5, sixth hole. We didn't know it but it put him 2 shots behind.

Went par, par, par to finish out. It included an impressive up and down on Par 4, 318 eighth hole. Made a tricky 6 footer.

Alas major props to the winner who had a brilliant chip on ninth hole to a couple inches. We were in group behind so caught that as nine was a par 3. Turns out that up and down was for the win as little AC fell a shot short.

Very Phil-esque round as went 0-7 on hit fairways and 2-9 in greens in regulation. Probably fortunate to finish second really.

Proud of his finish and all ya can do is tip your hat to the other guy.

Got tourney's Saturday and Sunday (9 holes) and another the following Saturday. Closes out Cleveland summer session.

Leave for Pinehurst on the 28th.

Entered into my first comp yesterday a stableford and ended up with 35 points and losing on countback. So frustrating as I putted the worst I have in a long time - many greens in reg only to end up in a bogey or double bogey.

Good on ya' for putting yourself out there. It will get easier/better.

Which course?

The National (Moonah course) it was today. Windy as usual, with drizzle tending to semi hard drizzle. After confidence sapping rounds at Peninsula I was back at my home track. Ive always said on familiar deck you play better. Well maybe thats whats wrong with me, subscribing to that theory.

Driver was all over the place today, and shelved it on some holes for my delofted 5w. Same thing generally, bad fades. Still, despite the poor weather hung in there on the front 9 with 17 pts. No wipes!

Back 9 was a disaster. Wipe, 1, wipe, 3, wipe, 1, 1, 2, 3 pointers. One one hole didn't even get half way before picking up. Infuriating.

Despite a solid 28 points i had little confidence in any aspect of my game. It was hit and hope!
