hai golfy brahs.

so back for a round at national today. moonah course. 630 tee time. wut? yep. pro shop and bar not even open at time of arrival. driving range not open. cold, moist in air and WINDY. oh and rain for 4 holes.

with no warm up or anything waltzed to first tee. downwind, punched it out wide right into long grass. reload, repeat. dont bother reloading, scratched hole par 4 (2 shots)

second hole par 5 2 shots. wipey wipey due to another lost ball. 3 balls lost in 2 holes. come at me.

finished with 15 pts on front 9, scrambled like kobe for his stats in a losing effort.

managed to stop my punch right drives and got some rhythm (think kobe bryant in Colorado). last a few holes, then back to poo.

13 pts back 9.

lesson - no practice for weeks, no warm up = disaster.

Still would have been awesome to be there.. Jealous

was good when rain stopped. back 9 all into the wind. not fun
Yeah I played the moonah in a mid amateur event a few years ago and shot 71 in still conditions and had a great day.. I then followed up at the ocean the next day in 50km an hour winds and shot 82 and felt like I played better.. 'twas very very tough..

not a fan of early tee times. although i understand at some courses you can't pick and choose. between 9-10 is good for me.

tip for when winter comes around, get some hand warmers. they are the bees knees and when kept in your pocket it also keeps your balls nice and warm.

no warm up can go one of two ways. you light it up or you play like horse shit. no in between.

Pick up any BigGolfy gear for Christmas, brah?

i vowed never to do it again (monday tee time 640).

hand warmers sound good. but the sick part of me enjoys early tee offs in winter, especially on the ocean course. its all about getting off early. wut?

Strolled out to Melbourne Airport on Friday.

Started with 5 glass jars (pars) and then double trouble.

Ended up with 78 (8 over) including 3 doubles. 2 over for 15 holes and 6 over for 3. Mad face.

Going down 17 I miss the green left with my approach. There's a bloke sitting there on a picnic rug (LOLWUT). Says I've never seen anyone hit it that far mate. (I hit a 6 iron into the green, again LOLWUT). Nearly chip in with the next and I see old mate has his fly undone as well as his belt. Moral of the story, my short game is THAT EXCITING.

Seen that fella there a couple of times now, just relaxing in the shade to the left of the 17th green. Massive tee shot too, I have only managed to get the ball around 15m from the green off the tee on that hole.

Played my local last week and shot a 47, which I am pretty happy with.

Hopefully playing tomorrow as well, if there is time.

so ripping conditions on the moonah course at zee nationale today. basically no wind (well there was some but nothing like the norm down there). 15 and 18 pts, couple of scratches. putting was off, sometimes 3 off the tee doesnt help either. frustration aplenty.

Playing Rosebud country club on wed. Fair to say I will be shocking, first game in 7 months.

which 18 at the bud? one is friendly combination (cannot recall which mix) but i remember one being savage and then an 18 mix being a nightmare

Very nice course but last time I played it was stinking hot and its not going ot be cool this time aroudn

still a great course, greens should be slick as by now - pray like hell for no wind and take plenty of clubs off the tee to find fairway, heaps of holes where no driver is reqd nor should even be considered

Yeah found that last time. With my long irons I was regularly hitting my 5-6irons off to get me on the fairway.

Think I shot an 86 when I played there maybe a year ago and was pretty close to best ive played

How was rosebud?

How was rosebud?

Was tough day at the office. Very rusty to say the least. Struck a few good irons but was woeful elseware. Putting was good.

Course is in great nic and the fairways play so true. Greens slick but not too hard to read.

Will be there later in Jan for another hit but was good to play with the old man and my grandad. Shouldn't really at my age be able to do that. FWIW he shot 48 off the stick. Not bad for a 83 year old.

After 6 weeks with no golf I hit a 46 today at my local. Pretty happy with it I suppose.

Where's your local?

Yeah it goes alright, good for a quick hit around. Will venture out to the airport course very soon.

You should look at joining Melbourne Airport mate. Only $500 for the first year.
