For views go to Flinders..not a bad course either..short but you need to be accurate.
Views are senbloodysational tho.

If you really don't like yourself play cape schank off the back markers..oh my

Although not the best track but not bad and worth playing, Bayview's in Rosebud has sensational views also.

Filnder's does have beautiful views. Wasn't a great fan of the course though. Probably because l stunk it up.

An underrated course down there l think is Rosebud Country Club north course. Not the most difficult, but quiet enjoyable.

my only complaint with Rosebud is it seems to take an eternity to play 18 holes - 5 hours! played there about 10 times and each time close to 5 hours

arrived at sanctuary cove resort thursday afternoon with a shitload of other players to participate in the mercedes trophy national finals. it was the closest thing ill ever experience to being a pro...picked up from airport, coached to the resort. bags taken to the course, while you check in. all expenses paid.

hada few holes praccy on the palms course. really disappointed with the condition of some bunkers and greens. admittedly the course was battered with water, over 30cm apparently recently. but the lips of the holes were scuffed a lot. not pretty. that night there was a dinner where everyone mingled while host mark beretts beretta did his thing including outlining why we're there - to win 1 of 3 places for team Australia to the World Mercedes finals in Germany later this year. yay. fun. everyone was so welcoming given that as a whole everyone knew one or no one. haha.

the Pines hosted round 1, stableford. after breakfast all players were driven to the course where our bags were already placed on carts each marked with our names and hole starting number. scorecards presented and we were free to hit balls and practice. we all did. the nerves were ever present but still a friendly atmosphere. beretts did his thing for mercedes TV, a drone circled above and group photo of all 82 players taken in the official polo shirts.

met rachel hetherington. lovely woman.

off 20, had a shocker. a lovely course (private) with line tree lined fairways. i got to know these quite well. many times tried to hit out only for ball to hit another tree and again. lol. lost a few balls which didnt help with errant drives, aka slices.
highlight of the day was meeting rachel hetherington on one of the par 3s and attempting to beat her NTP.
26 pts and out of the running considering top players need 40 points to win. but this was round 1 of 2!

a ripping dinner again hosted by beretts. murmurs a plenty over the leaderboard, with most players realising the trip to germany is gone.

round 2 at the palms. a course that has a lot of water, but "easier" than the pines. course was improved from practice round thankfully. a change in game plan meant less lost balls and confidence rising. yay! but overall score of 24 was poor. highlight was meeting mike klim on the "straightest drive" hole. prize is all expenses paid trip to brit open at royal troon.

winner had 77 pts.

as a whole, both courses had greens that required precise reading. not being used to it doesnt help, but thats golf. grass is difference than what im used to, especially around the greens. fluffy that grab your club.

the gala presentation dinner last night was exquisite. top notch that felt like the brownlow. merc really left no stone unturned. from chauffering, food, gifts, information, on course videography and photography. i rated it 10/10.

Been getting back into playing golf the last couple of months, broke 100 for the first time in a while at ranfurlie (nice course I thought) with a 99 Will need to get on the practice green and work on my putting, because it's killing me, been driving it really well at the moment, it's a club I never used to be able to use and now it's my best club and I can't work out why.

Fantastic living on the peninsula as others have said, so much choice down here

Was going to come on and ask for advice. Last couple of pages was a good read. Heading to the Peninsula in about a month will have a day free for a hit. Have reciprocal with Rosebud and also want to have a hit on a real coastal course hopefully blowing an absolute gale

Flinders afternoon = windy

Heading to the Gold Coast tomorrow to play some golf. Bloody storm coming over the weekend might out a damper on things. Was hoping to get 4 comp rounds in.

Rain looks insane
4 inches or something

Just heard Sam Newman on the footy show saying that Essendon's Brent Stanton can't play in his local club competition due to the WADA ban.

The Carlton supporter in me finds that absolutely hilarious.

Imagine how much golf you could play if you were on a good AFL wage and had a year off!

And Stanton can seriously play

Thats FN absurd by the way

Played in the Monthly Challenge today. The course was set up tough with pins a metre or 2 from the edge of greens.
I shot 85/71. 72nett is par. I was knocking in putts from everywhere.
After 6 holes I had used up 11 shots of my hcp. The last 12 holes were all pars with bogeys on 11 and 18. On 18 the ball was hanging ova the hole for par. Finished 3rd out of 90. The last 12 holes was my best golf ever. Pity I can't get going early lately. I even warmed up.

Shot 85/71 again today at my home course. Par is 70. DSR will be about 72. Slope rating of 130. Slow start again but more consistent. **** it is a frustrating game. I did it easy today but couldn't score.

Old Course at The National GC.
a solid 32 pts today. quite happy after a paltry 14 on the from 9.
using new G Max Pings. still learning distance to club ratio. putting was pretty poo due to my nonchalant attitude. just didnt overly care. why?

because all week i had rounds booked but due to non pleasant conditions (hail on friday, higher than normal winds and rain thursday) i was like the proverbial roman sandal. so yesterday drove down in the rain, and it cleared as i entered the gates of nirvana. thought it was pitch dark, and bitterly cold, walked in with a smile. at the range everyone was rugged up. beanies and multi layer was commonplace. to the first tee we went. YAY!

My last 2 rounds have been 35pt stableford efforts playing off a daily hcp of 14. There was only one wash in those 2 rounds being a double bogey. The slope rating being 130 and the DSR was 70. Par 70 course.
Since mid April I have lowered my GA hcp from 13.4 to 11.5. School holidays atm so I will only be playing Saturday's for the next 2 weekends. After that, I am seriously considering getting some lessons. This might be my last chance at cracking single figures!

won a full set of titleist AP2s, 915 driver/wood, some hybrid, 3 vokey wedges, scotty cameron putter, bag.

gonna pick the eyes out of these to combine with my current club set
Just use the lot. Mizuno is what I use in the irons with a Titleist 2 iron. t***ies are the best clubs but a full set will set you back about $3500. My Mizuno irons from 4 iron to lob wedge (10 irons in total) cost me $1700. It was another $750 for the Taylor Made Burner 2.0 driver ($270), Callaway XHot 3 wood ($230) and Ping putter ($200).
Edit: my Titleist 2 iron cost me $260. All the irons and the 3 wood have 5.5 medium stiff Project X shafts.
