One thing that Covid has me feeling currently is stop waiting and do things. I really want to join my local private club when I restrictions ease.

I know some of you don't rate my local course (Riversdale)...but I mow lawns in the morning...and it is 2 minutes away and I will be reluctant to travel after work. I will definitely use short game/range facilities and quick 9 holes regularly mid week.

I was hoping there would be some "Covid type" deals to attract new members, pretty sure these places will be taking a huge financial hit...but no such luck.

Main thing that worries me in the short term is that if they allow groups of 2, ten minutes apart. That's 12 per hour...probably 100 golfers per day over Winter, and there is going to be everyone trying to get a hit after this. It is a hell of a lot to pay (in my 50s) to not be able to play and get my money worth....Do I sit and wait or go for it?
Am a relatively new member there. Probably bias but go for it. Have had no complaints so far - other members have been very friendly and course is generally in really good nick. Understand they spent a fair bit of coin/effort in the recent past on drainage and it was perfectly playable all last winter.

Timesheet is generally pretty busy in peak times - but never had an issue getting a tee time. Just announced that it will be groups of 4 at 10 min intervals - max of 2 hits per week for the time being. Would invite you for a hit but don’t think they’re letting guests on at the moment. Happy to try and answer any questions you have but suggest giving the course a ring directly - in my experience they’re exceptionally easy to deal with

Thanks Phil. Sounds great. I've played it a few times over my journey...before they put in the lakes/bridges etc. I believe the clubhouse was renovated 10 years ago. I currently walk around the outside each day as part of my iso exercise and it looks like it is in top shape. It has me very tempted. I will let you know if I pull the trigger and we can have a hit at some point. Great news about groups of 4. Didn't think we would get that in VIC.

Yep if Riversdale suits you location wise I'd go for it. I understand they are one of the rare well positioned clubs financially so they'd be unlikely needing to offer discount deals. They have a nice location advantage for golfers in that region as there are relatively few closely located competitors.

Personally I don't really like the decisions they have made from an architecture and vegetation perspective (although they have thankfully removed a lot of crappy undergrowth). But that's just a personal view.

Seems a nice friendly club whenever I've been there. I can't imagine you will regret the decision.

Read some horror stats in a Geoff Blunden report on the weekend predicting a 9% membership attrition rate at Aus golf clubs across the board due to the pandemic. Many clubs will go to the wall in their current iterations as a result of Covid-19.

I think it's just hastening the demise of the club membership model in Australia - which has been dying on the vine for many years. The whole thing needs a major re-think.

Okay, between the pandemic and now this...I am relocating to Phoenix by August.

I will happily send photos of me on the tee box in December

I cannot take anymore! :)

Just over 2 hours till T time. So nervous
What do you think will be the biggest challenge first round back? Obviously chipping/putting will throw people off I reckon but another thing is I think the loss of distance given the cooler and softer conditions compared to two months ago might catch people off guard.

I think just hitting the ball will be the biggest thing. No one has played in weeks, and swinging a club not much either.

I think people are used to losing distance with damp and moist conditions. If golf wasnt already hard enough haha

First thing that goes really after a layoff is chipping/putting.

Well that was worth the wait... 16 points😂
Wasn’t really engaged to be honest and just happy to go out there. But **** I’m sore!

So I went and hit some balls today and while it was good to be back out on the course I've gotta say it's not much fun with my shoulder injury. Hard to adjust when the head is telling you so swing normally but the body just won't allow it.

Magnificient day at Peninsula Kingswood. No rain, it had passed. Practice facilities open and available. Quick hit and then strode excitedly to the first tee. Expectedly duck hooked it. Second shot a nice thin wormburner. Chipped on and sunk the putt. Par. Thank you.

Enjoyed the rest of the day despite inability to get off the tee. The company was terrific and everyone was happy. Denied holing out from a lengthy green side bunker distance by the pool noodle.

enjoy your golf guys
