The worst putt to have IMO is a down hill putt on a slow green.
Consistency in speed is what you need.
We'll maintained greens will generally be quicker than not.
As long as the pace of all greens is consistent that wouldn't bother me.
Trouble is most clubs the practice greens are nothing like the course greens

I certainly tested it again today. Prefer greens where I have to provide the momentum. Then I can adjust. Easier for me to measure what to do when most of the time I’m muscling then putt.

rather than greens that just race away at a slight touch

peternorth wouldn't know what a slow green was going from the courses he plays. National greens are rediculous. Generally fast greens are better maintained and therefore more true/consistent.

I think the lower handicappers would generally enjoy quicker greens. Their games are better suited, approaches/short game and putting. They will handle it better and win more on them compared to slower greens which helps the higher handicappers a bit. Also their games stand up better in the wind...or on the hardest rated holes..they are a good chance on picking up shots on higher handicapped players.

Winds an interesting one ,

I think in the wind I'm far king hopeless.
Handicap would be double if not triple

Not necessarily true. When the greens at sanded they slow. Also there are times when they’re “slow” without coring or sanded but it’s generally the day before they’re mowed.

Which course or courses did you play at Nash?

31 points today. New personal best.

122 off the stick, bad finish with 16 shots over the last two holes. Haven’t broken 120 yet
Quick question. If you’re playing stableford why don’t you ever pick up you’re ball. You might play fast, but I’d be pissed if I was playing behind a guy who wasn’t picking up when he’s finished scoring on a hole.

Still no comps due to restrictions so only playing social rounds and only in pairs, less traffic on course. I’m counting strokes more for my own interest in my progression as a beginner but to submit a nominated round to the handicapper the score needs to be in stableford points.

If I was playing a genuine stableford comp or it was a busy day with people backing up behind me I’d be picking up the ball definitely.

It’s interesting really zoomed in to see just how much the ball goes in. How the hell that doesn’t drop!

Yeah fair enough. I hate it when I’m getting held up by people playing out 10’s. I play on a course that’s got heaps of bush so slow play is a massive problem. We actually have a local rule that 10 is the mercy rule even when playing stoke.

87 today. Tee to green was the best in a long time. Putting was terrible though, 5 3 putts destroyed the score.

Enjoyed the warmer weather, felt the ball was already going 10-15m further than a few weeks ago

yeah I’m at a similar course in terms of bush. And it’s the longest course in the region from what I’ve been told.

I’m usually pretty ready to let people play through anyway at first opportunity under the current circumstances. Not in any rush while I work on things.

Teed off on the 10th Saturday right as the players behind me came out of the clubhouse from their quick drink. Proceeded to slice it into a tree and back onto the ladies tee box just forward of their markers.

the guys behind me were making good pace so I let them tee off. One of them hit the trees on the other side before the ladies tee and didn’t bounce out. So I went back and got another drink while I waited

As long as you aren't holding people up for long periods i don't really care if i'm behind someone playing until they hole it. It annoys me more if i am waiting behind a group if only 1 person is close to being ready to play at a time. Also annoying is when a group of 2 in carts holds up a group of 2 walking.

I am enjoying the forced groups of 2 at the moment though. It just makes everything quicker. It wasn't exactly fast today with a few times waiting but it took just under 3 hours

Missed my best chance yet to finish in the top 5/10 on Sunday. Was sent out off 22, had two extra shots on the first hole (par four) and after finding trouble and having to punch out onto the fairway I put my approach within about 18 inches. 4 points to start, went 2-2-2-2 at the next four holes and thought it was going to happen. Badly ran out of steam and only managed 29 for the day. Did construct the ugliest par of all time, though - par 4 dogleg right, emphatically sliced my tee shot to the back of another green almost at right angles to where I was aiming but actually had a clear shot to the green somehow and managed to plonk it about five metres from the flag. Enough to keep me coming back if nothing else.

Played riverside today, first time at the course.

shot 59 on the back 9. Sadly that came after 75 on the front. Was awful at the start but relaxed as the day went on. Reasonably happy I didn’t completely drop my bundle.

returned to this course today. 134 last time wouldn’t take much beating but I played my best game yet, 55 on front nine and 56 on the back for 111. Feel ****ing great, pumped with myself.

Edit: 33 stableford points

23 shots shaved off from the last time is a great result.
