Got out on Dunes yesterday afternoon and loved it. For most of the round we were playing in ridiculous wind. But with that I played possibly my best round ever.

44 front 9, 20 points and hit some of best irons I would've. Blew up on the back 9 with 3 holes in a row but finished 91 and 36 points. Should've probably been 86-87.

Highlight of the day was Driving the front bunker 4th hole with my four iron (nice tail wind). To finish the hole off we won't discuss.

I'm a handicap of 18 so to play the way I did, with the wind out there just gave me hope I can play proper golf.

Now to be able to use a driver on every hole instead of just hitting my four iron.
Ha ha this is exactly where I am at right now. 18hc, I find I can play a 30m flop shot over bunkers no worries, but as soon as the driver comes out I’m all over the place, resorting to fairway wood and 4i.

I will find a fix. Not sure how.

I also fade my driver and draw my irons.a lot of the time. Which probably isn't possible so I'm probably slicing one or hooking the other.

Haha, I'm almost the complete opposite, similar handicap, generally comfortable with the driver, struggle to hit a decent 3 wood. 4i is normally ok as long as it is a 3/4 swing though

Cue the unsolicited advice from a bloke you've never met on the internet. ;) If I start to hook it and/or block right, It's usually because my shoulders aren't turning. That is often a reaction to trying to 'steer' the ball or do a controlled swing where I don't want to do either of those things. I try to touch my left chin with my left shoulder. A full shoulder rotation is what gives you that famous 'coming from the inside' swing.
If you only swing with your arms the hook left/block right is often the result. It could be other things, but I've found for me that getting a good turn in really helps.

Quote came through for the irons from the fitting - New Level heads, KPS shafts @$295 each

Anyone heard of these heads? Felt awesome to hit.

Hmm that does make sense. I do block them out left sometimes. (Left handed here). Interesting could implement some of these swings down at the driving range

I've heard they are amazing - you'll be down to scratch in no time with those.

Was 1-under off the stick after the first 10 holes, including three birdies (first time I’d ever had three under par holes in a round).

Fell in an Aphrodite Hills-sized canyon over the last eight holes.

Know how you feel too mate. I rarely play 18 and I was surprised how tired I was getting towards the end of my round on Sunday walking the course with carts. I'm not super unfit.

Hey know how you feel. The worst.

I was working night shift so had been up since 5pm the previous day.

Fell in a hole.

Finally got out of Melbourne and had a hit at Hepburn with my old man this morning, we both kinda stank it up with a few good shots in between, but nice to be able to get back out on the course in the country!

Why would you walk when you had a cart?

Quite obviously I like to walk next to my cart and drive it at the same time... 🤪

Or maybe I used the wrong word?
Normally it is either carrying (fools), using a push or pull buggies, or riding a golf cart (seniors or lazy people). Maybe different in WA though

Most people I see use push trollies or whatever you call them. Carts generally reserved for the elderly. It’s actually pretty sad seeing fat, lazy people on carts wasting what is a good opportunity to do some light exercise.

ah yeah, this is a cart

you were referring to a buggy

But words are sometimes used interchangeably (especially in USA).

Carrying is great mate. Walk over the green straight to the next tee as buggies cant be rolled over the greens.

I understand that part of it but for me i don't feel like it is worth the little bit less walking compared to carrying clubs for 18 holes.

I must say though i have seen more people carrying in the last year than i have ever seen before

The only time i would think about using a cart would be if there is a decent walk between every hole. But for me that is a golf course design fault, as a course should be first designed for walking
