Think after the send off and the comments through the shower walls to the monny boys by the wandin boys after their win in round 6, their request to change this weekends game to wandin due to the crap conditions at monbulks ground might of fell on deaf ears. Just a bit of a warning to the dogs hasnt stopped raining in monbulk since tuesday night and it seems all the water in town has drained onto the oval so bring your snorkels boys the score tomorrow might read about 3 goals to 2 and hopefully the hawks can win a close one or it could be a draw we havnt had one of those yet.
In this day and age, really garion?... Really

I heard that wandin trained in the rain even on Thursday night to condition themselves for this weekends game.

not saying it was used at all just that a few of the boys thought the wandin boys celebrated a bit exuberently. and i realise its rained everywhere just saying i think the fact theres half a foot of water sitting on the ground was worth a mention and obviously wandin arnt to impressed with it either as they did ask for the game to be moved.

and from what i hear the boys got beaten by a pretty determined healesville side and they might have thought they had it won.

The great news up at Olinda is that we had 15cms of fresh mud falling overnight. this added to the 20cm of mud since Sunday. Add to that we have had the mud machines running full tilt.
We have 5 lifts operating on the weekend and fresh mud falls are expected.

But no fog at least...

I urge you all to watch the monbulk wandin game on valleyvision and decide for your self on weather the umpires were as bad as what i was watching... very one sided...

And it all begins again....Umpire potting. Don't lower your colours Tika, you're a solid contributor to this forum. Instead, why don't we look at ValleyVision and decide whether Monbulks ground or Emeralds ground is worse. There is one stark difference, as suggested by TeeS, Monbulk ARE using it to their advantage, but Emerald seem terrified of it. Emerald have now lost 5 in a row, 3 of which at home. Tika, or any other Wandiners, is it true that Jugga got a blood infection after playing at Emerald earlier in the year?

Im usually not one to complain about umpires mud or no mud the only advantage monbulk had were the umpires... ive never seen anything like it! and apparently he did from what ive heard on the grapevine pterodactyl!

Waiting for the vid to download.
i thought moanbulk were the wingers after garions blurt last week.
Scores look like moanie were all over you anyhow tika. 18 shots to 8 cant be all the umps fault.
maybe moanie is the new emerald now. Wasnt emerald the umps favs a few weeks ago finga?
Mt ev were pretty good and kick clear of healsevil who have to win the next two and mt ev loose both. Last game could be a season buster.
Gotta laugh tika. you only just signed up so you havnt had a chance to complain about umps.
Who were you before changing your name to tika?

BUT if Mt Ev beat Woori (which they nearly did first time around), and Healesville beat Emerald, then in the final round Healseville beat Mt Ev and Wandin beat Emerald, it'll be Emerald who get relegated. With Emeralds current form, that becomes a real possibility.

In a nutshell though, if Mt Ev and Emerald win any of their next 2, they stay up. Their future is in their own hands and Healseville are the only team reliant on other teams results.

Your wrong tika, the umpires only favour emerald, the finger told me so, he said it was a 'fact'.
After all the debate on here was the ground really that bad from your perspective tika?
It was awful!

The count will show who earned free kicks. Don't have the figures. Perhaps you can release some. And did you leave at 3/4 time? Monbulk outscored Wandin with 7 scoring shots to just 1 to run away in the second half.
But you start from the false premise that all sides should earn the same amount of free kicks. If there is an imbalance then one side is favoured?
Nonsense!
Monbulk controlled play all day and as Taj suggests, dominated possession and scoring 18-8. That's a big difference and can't be explained away by umpire bias - particularly with the two umpire observers watching the game!
If a side leads to the ball all day, they are likely to win more free kicks, more shots at goal and more of the ball. It's not a guarantee, but it is a strong likelihood, don't you think?

Just been watching the vid. Seen most of the first 3 q's and I think you are having a fiddle, tika. I saw one that should of been in the back for moanies 1st goal, but not much else.
You saw 3 q's with 1 eye maybe hey?
That ground is a disgrace. dont know how they can even play in it let alone umpire.

How bad does a ground have to be to have the game called off? Kinglake v Alex was called off Saturday with Alex up by three points and given the win. Who makes the decision? Really does open up a pandoras box.

Hi guys, lived up your way as a kid and played at Gembrook. I remember in the dead of winter the grounds were pretty shot. I remember playing a preliminary final at Seville and losing a boot in the mud way back in 88
Just wondering how you go now for changes of venues etc coz it doesn't sound like too many grounds are playable
I always laugh at the local blokes up my way where I'm vice pres of a club whinging when grounds get wet and comparing it to when I was a kid, they wouldn't know what a wet ground was !!

hope no one from the league has seen sevilles ground this time of year in the last 100 years
Watching some games on valleyvision and Sevilles ground looks like the MCG compared to a few others. The worst 2 are def Monbulk & Kinglake. Closely followed by Emerald & Olinda. Did Olinda host a final last year? What a difference a year makes

With so many grounds in such bad condition, what is everyones tips for where finals will be held? Obviously Woori, Gembrook & Healesville will feature heavily, but those 3 grounds can't take all the heat..

Massive difference BB. no one has trained on the ground for ages, juniors have had 2 weeks in a row at home.
ground was rolled Wednesday morning which was amazing due to some wind. Olinda did host a 2nd Div final and now is pure mud. No under 18's on Saturday but ground was well and truly chopped up.
There is nowhere for water to go anymore, so many drains bit just too much rain.

Very dependent on whether you're a glass is half empty vs half full kinda guy. You could also argue that if upwey beat wandin this wk and all other results go as you'd expect, it's realistic to think emerald could still play finals. Would need wandin and warby to lose their last two and themselves and upwey to win their last two and 5th spot would be theirs on %. I'm sure this is how they would be looking at it. Would take a miracle for them to get relegated you'd assume

i left the yarra valley this year and moved to Goulbun Valley Football League and i got injured so have seen a few Div 1 and 2 games and watch Valley vision reguarly (great stuff by the league) but the sates of the grounds are appaling it is a disgrace to the league that they are allowed to play football at Kinglake especially on saturday after yea players got infection from the ground a week or 2 earlier and were hostpilased it is shocking that they had a game there on saturday i didnt attended the game but have seen pictures of the ground and it is unplayable that ground absolutley shocking with one of my mates getting an infection on his knee from the ground the league needs to adreess ground problems before its to late. With the worst ground in the GV being better than the best ground in the Yarra Valley

There's no doubting that in general the GV grounds are holding up better. But your theory doesn't hold up to a few of our grounds. A week ago Alex was in fantastic nick - no water and we wore runners. About 3 weeks ago I was at Yarra Junction and you could have played cricket there. I heard the guys at Yea on Saturday wore runners too. Others said that Woori was in pretty good nick too. Healesville was perfect about 4 weeks ago too. More a case of our good grounds are great but our bad grounds are really, really bad.
